Rebecca – age 8

.

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’

Billy – age 4

Karl – age 5

Bobby – age 7 (Wow!)

Chris – age 7

.

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day..’

Mary Ann – age 4

.

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’

Lauren – age 4

.

‘When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ (what an image)

Karen – age 7

.

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it But if you mean it, you should say it a lot.. People forget.’

Jessica – age 8

.

And the final one

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, ‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’

    … sweet and true.

Just one question though, I thought love and evolution don’t go together? I mean, since we evolved from simpler life forms, were love already there, when we were still in our more primitive life forms? Or is love a product of chemical reactions that only happened once we evolved into a more advanced, complex organism? Kinda confused here…

The best thing is, it seems like we have a lot of children that are very smart and know about love. They also seem to have good examples. This is very encouraging.

I think we adults complicates love. Children can teach us a thing or two about love. These are the cutest comments I’ve ever heard.

I just loved Billy’s comment. He seems intuitively aware of the power of your name.

  6. Leila says:

Great observations. It’s a bit like the story of the little girl who said to her teacher ‘I’m drawing a picture of God.’ The teacher said ‘but no-one knows what God looks like,’ and the little girl said ‘they will in a minute.’

    @Billy B Nugroho,
:-) …I might be wrong, but I believe love is the only constant we have. I believe its always been there since the beginning of time (and will always be there), As we evolve and become enlightened, we understand love better and therefore practice it more.

All above comments are great, but the best comment (brought a tear to my eye), was Bobby’s.

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.’

This is probably the most profound comment I’ve ever read. I intend to do that this Xmas. Thanks Bobby, wherever you are.

Love is so many things! And children, (Bless them) are more open than adults in sharing love. We could all use the tips above.
