So just what is mindfulness? Are you truly connecting with your life? In this short video Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn defines Mindfulness as paying attention – on purpose – in the moment – without judgement – as if your life depended on it.
He points out that we can only live in the present moment. We can only express emotion, taste, smell, see, feel and touch in the present moment. Mindfulness is not a technique but a way of being. Attention is the faculty that allows us to navigate our lives.
Personally I find that I need to slow down to achieve mindfulness. When I am living deliberately, in the moment, and I relax and clear my mind- rather than not accomplishing as much, I accomplish even more! I am rewarded with nuances I would never have experienced in my harried state.
