The Law of Attraction “Hoax”

For a while, I’ve been wanting to “get this out of my system.” As such, this article may sound a bit like a “rant” and may jar a few peoples’ nerves. On one hand, my intention is not to cause any discontent; on the other hand, if it causes discontent then I’m grateful I’ve given you something deeper to consider.

Actually, almost three years now I would occasionally be reminded about the seeming inconsistency of calling the Law of Attraction a “Law.” If it’s a law like gravity, why does it seem to work for some people and not others?

Some teachers have attempted to reconcile this by saying it has to do with what you believe, both consciously and subconsciously. They suggest that if you were to align both your conscious beliefs and subconscious beliefs with what you want to attract, then you will attract it like magic.

Sounds good doesn’t it?

My intention is not to criticize other approaches to manifestation, but rather, to call into question the inconsistencies. Why is it that the Law of Gravity doesn’t require us to change our subconscious beliefs, but the Law of Attraction does?

Other “Spiritual Laws” don’t even require changes of subconscious beliefs to easily see the cause and effect relationship: Law of Choices, Law of Action, Law of Balance, Law of Integrity, Law of Compassion… to name a few.

None of them require changing your subconscious beliefs to see results. They only require being aware that they exist and paying attention to how they manifest (interesting word, huh?) in your life when you take action in alignment with them. So why must we change our beliefs for the “Law of Attraction” to work?

Today, I will attempt to answer that question. First though, I want to say that I willingly use the term “Law of Attraction” because it’s an easy way to communicate a simple idea that has gone mainstream, and that idea is this:

When we live in conscious awareness, we can experience life the way we want to.

In other words we can manifest what we want. The difference though between my approach on the “Law of Attraction” than others  is I’m not concerned so much about manifesting “things.” I focus on manifesting experiences –and more specifically– inner experiences of our True Nature.

Popular Law of Attraction teachers say that to attract the things you want, whether it be a car, house, relationship, more money, etc, that you must first raise your vibration to be in alignment with that. More aware teachers go so far as to say that you must use affirmations to reprogram your subconscious to ensure that your conscious desires do not conflict with your subconscious desires. Even more aware teachers will suggest that you don’t focus on the stuff you “want” and instead focus on how the stuff would make you feel.

For example, if you want the car then what is it about the car you really want? Is it the adrenaline rush? Is it the feeling of success, or is it to feel abundant?  What are the feelings inherent in a meaningful relationship that you desire? Connection, intimacy, playfulness, commitment, joy?

In other words, they say to get what you want you must first feel as though you have it already. Some people say you have to truly believe you “deserve” it and “believe it will happen” even when the odds seem slim.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer the Law of Gravity. Drop something. See it fall. Yup, the law works! Why can’t the “Law of Attraction” be that simple?

My experience is that it can be. In fact, it is… we just don’t recognize it as such. Too many teachers have focused on the “getting stuff” aspect of manifestation –because that’s what sells products, books, and seminars– that they’ve overlooked what manifestation really is.

Experiencing your True Nature.

Why point to the “things” when we can point to ourselves?

My belief is that all of us only want to manifest one basic thing: Being completely and totally okay with our lives. Most of us project into the world what we think we need to make that happen. We say “If I only had more money, a bigger house, a better relationship, then I’ll be able to relax.” But what if we just learned how to be happy now without all that stuff? If that were true, then all the “stuff in the world” would become icing on the metaphorical cake. Then it wouldn’t be about “changing our vibration to get what we want” but instead “becoming what we want because we’ve changed our vibration.”

Later this year, I’m actually going to be creating my own program on manifestation. The catch is that the only way to join that program will be to have completed my introductory program, “Liberate Your Life.” The reason for this is simple:

The way to manifest the inner experiences that we want is to realize we already had them to begin with. We want joy, abundance, peace, happiness? We had those True Nature qualities as babies yet somewhere in our lives we lost touch with those experiences. My Liberate Your Life program takes that basic predisposition and walks people through re-discovering they already have specific qualities like strength, courage, and willpower.

Those are the foundational qualities that we need to “manifest” stuff in our lives. Without the strength, we won’t initiate action. Without the courage, we will stay locked in fear. Without willpower, we won’t be able to remain steadfast to our dreams… especially when life gets difficult.

Manifestation isn’t rocket science. Nor is it as simple as “Conceive, Believe, and Take Action” either. Yet it is that simple and it can simultaneously feel like rocket science. All we have to do is uncover the subconscious barriers that each of us have to experiencing our True Nature – which is inherently abundant regardless of any “stuff” you might want to attract into your life.

Getting into our subconscious is surprisingly difficult though. Many teachers will lead you astray by saying that “affirmations are enough.” For a few of them, this is actually true… I have great appreciation for Marc Allen (best-selling author and founder of the New World Library book publisher) because he’s transformed his life using little more than affirmations and scholarly reading.

For most people though, affirmations are a long-road to transforming their lives. That’s because for our entire lives our subconscious was reprogrammed in inefficient and ineffective ways, often without our consent. It took a lifetime to believe ourselves as having limited potential… so once we become aware of our unlimited potential it can feel like a long road ahead to transformation.

That’s also part of where I feel the “hoax” is when it comes to the Law of Attraction. Too much emphasis is placed on affirming positivity and raising vibration positively, and not enough energy is invested in actually transforming your subconscious. Some teachers would even have you believe that if you have negative thoughts or feelings you are sabotaging your ability to manifest what you want.

And that’s where it gets upside-down.

See, the only way to actually live in a positive high vibration is to transform your negative self-sabotaging unconscious beliefs and feelings. Overriding them will only work for a little while, until your subconscious brings them back again and causes you to sabotage even your best efforts. The negative thoughts and feelings are far more effective pointers to manifesting than the “stuff is.” That’s because the negativity tells you which aspects of your subconscious still need to be transformed, and then with the right tools you can permanently transform those subconscious negative beliefs into experiences of your abundant True Nature.

Now here’s where it gets tricky…

Your subconscious, and more specifically the “Inner Critic” aspect of your subconscious wants to keep you both comfortable and small. It doesn’t want you to experience abundance, and it doesn’t want you to manifest your dreams. To your Inner Critic, manifestation is hogwash that will make you uncomfortable and expansive. Your Inner Critic will always have something discouraging to say about your ability to manifest until you transform the Inner Critic itself.

That’s no easy task though because few bodies of work out there focus on this aspect of our subconscious. Byron Katie doesn’t really talk about the “Law of Attraction,” but she helps people manifest the lives they truly want to live. She uses another word for “Law of Attraction” which is “The Work.”

That’s what it really is. The Law of Attraction is working on your subconscious, bringing it to light, so that you can experience both your subconscious and conscious in alignment with your True Nature. So yes, the teachers who say you must bring your subconscious and conscious into alignment are right.

Not only that, but I sort of took you in a boomerang direction earlier when I said that the other spiritual laws don’t require you to transform your subconscious. While they don’t ‘require’ you to transform your subconscious to see the cause-and-effect results in your life, you do have to change your subconscious if you want those results to stick permanently.

For example, if you lack the ability to take action (as per the “Law of Action”), it’s not because your conscious mind has taken you astray… it’s because your Inner Critic has subconsciously caused you to believe that you’ll be more comfortable if you don’t take action. And even if you’re the best action-taker in the world, if your Inner Critic is quietly sabotaging your willpower then you’ll rarely finish what you start.

The beauty of spiritual laws is that as long as you are taking actions in alignment with the law, you will see the expected outputs. If you act in alignment with the Law of Action, you’ll see results in your life. Over time, your subconscious is naturally transformed by the consistent habit of taking action, and in this way you are using the “input equals output” formula to transform your life and your subconscious.

That’s a long slow road though that requires a lot of faith and trial and error. It also has a caveat: if you’re not taking action in the ways that also expand your other True Nature qualities, then even your best efforts (such as taking action) will be sabotaged by your lack of will to “stick with it.” In other words, just focusing on affirmations and taking action is actually the slowest road to transforming your life.

That’s why–in my experience–the quickest path to manifesting is to focus on discovering and developing very specific qualities of my True Nature. Qualities like strength, courage, and willpower enable me to move forward in life. Then I can focus on qualities like abundance, joy, and gratitude to “raise my vibration” permanently and manifest the inner experiences that are truly fulfilling to me. That’s the cake I truly want and then all the extra stuff is just “icing.”

Don’t get me wrong… I definitely like the icing on cake (especially chocolate cake!), and just like you would love to experience more financial abundance and even more fulfilling relationships. The difference is that I don’t mistake the icing for the cake. What I want is to experience my True Nature fully, and then I can bring that with me no matter what I do in life. Stuff will come and go, but my True Nature is here to stay.

Which brings me back full circle… what is the real “Law of Attraction Hoax?”

It’s the suggestion that any of us want to manifest anything other than our True Nature.

  1. Chris I am so glad you posted it! I’ve been trying to articulate my feelings about TLA for some time! Last year I gave up trying to fight against the odds with my healing business and wanted to concentrate on getting myself well. So I railed against the Universe for not delivering what I’d been trying to attract.

    This year, for Lent, I decided to give up being negative and negativity in general. It’s been a real revelation. I try not to become attached to any outcome too. And lo and behold, not only has my health improved, but my job situation and my business is picking up – without any conscious effort on my part! Perhaps I got TLA wrong – but now I’ve read your blog I don’t think I did. Instead of concentrating on material possessions and money, I decided to spend my energies on just being – and that has changed things.

    Thank you for your clarity of thought!

  3. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I watched the Secret every day at work for over 18 months, made vision boards, said affirmations to myself, used subliminal help cd’s and nothing changed.

    When the ression hit I lost 60% of my income, nothing helped to stop the loss.

    I have just started to see a climb back and have a new Job comming in two weeks. I guess you have to hit rock bottom to appriciate what you have!

    I belive you have hit the Nail on the Head with your article, I give you a 5 out of 5 stars and would love to use your system for reprograming my subconcious mind.

    I went through a lot of bad stuff as a child, the oldest of 7 children. It was a tough life.

  4. Alan Tutt says:

    Hi Chris,

    I agree with you on some things, disagree with others.

    One of the major points you’ve brought out here is that the Law of Attraction isn’t a simple law like gravity, but is much more complex.

    If you think of the science of meteorology, and more specifically, weather prediction, it’s all based on recognized physical laws. However, how often can they predict the weather with any degree of accuracy?

    This is because there are a LOT of variables — wind speeds, obstructions to the wind, changing it’s course along the way, clouds which alter how strong the sun shines on different parts of the ground, creating warm spots and cooler spots, and so on.

    When you’re dealing with the Law of Attraction, which DOES work according to your belief system, conscious and subconscious, there are just as many variables — what do you believe about the surface situation you want to change, what do you believe about your ability to change it, what do you believe is normal for your life, how much do you believe it’s possible to change it with the LOA, and hundreds of other beliefs.

    This is why it doesn’t operate as simply as the law of gravity, which is a MUCH simpler law.

    I understand your confusion on this. It takes many years of intense focus and detailed records to fully understand the intricacies involved.

    Alan,

    I understand and appreciate what you’ve shared, and your weather analogy will be helpful to many who struggle with manifestation. Your response though indicates you either didn’t read the full article, didn’t find the primary points of mine interesting enough to comment on, or that there may be some confusion about those more important points I was trying to communicate.

    Although I hadn’t planned a “Part 2″ ~ perhaps the Q&A that unfolds in this comments section will be just the catalyst needed for me to write it. Then Cyndi will send you an email of gratitude, hehe… :)

    Thanks for sharing, Alan!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Bernard,
    Though I’m sorry to hear times have been tough, congrats on the new job!
    I am looking forward to hearing all about your progress with Liberate Your Life ~ I think you’ll find a lot of what you’re looking for with regards to healing your childhood and experiencing real change in your life where your previous efforts left off.
    Now to be clear ~ I advocate use of subliminal programming, affirmations, brainwave entrainment, and pretty much anything and everything I can possibly use to reprogram my subconscious. The thing is, those are all still -on their own- slow paths, so I use them to complement the techniques I use.
    In my experience, the combined effect of those approaches on top of doing the “real work” (my primary method of transformation and techniques) creates an incredible compound effect on my inner state of wellbeing.
  6. Brian McKiel says:
    A very good article. There is a great deal of truth in what you’re saying. However, just about everything in your article, I have already heard from the other “popular Law of Attraction teachers”.They all say basically the same thing, but in a slightly different way. Wayne Dyer, for example says, “You don’t attract what you want, you attract what you are.” And this is absolutely true. This of course, goes right along with what you’re saying about your true nature. And here’s another kicker about the Law of Attraction. You believe (the responders too) that the Law of Attraction only works sometimes and only for some people and that it is very inconsistant. That only applies to attracting the good. But it’s not always good. See, the Law of Attraction IS like the law of gravity. The Law of Attraction is always working. It never stops. It’s working 24/7. It’s just that you’re not attracting what you want. You’re attracting what you don’t want. I know from experience that this is true. I have been attracting alot of crappy stuff even after watching The Secret. And alot of other videos and programs. Because I had alot of crappy beliefs which are really barriers to experiencing and expressing who you truly are. I’ve attracted some good things. But I’ve also attracted alot of crap too. And it’s not that the Law of Attraction was only working when I was getting the good and not when I was getting the bad. It was working the whole time. So don’t think that because you’re getting crap that the Law of Attraction isn’t working. IT IS! And you’re attracting it. We are all expert manifesters. It’s just that some of it we don’t want. So, I agree with you on a very large part of your article. But when you say that the “popular” Law of Attraction teachers don’t teach this stuff, it’s not really so. They do. They tell you you should attract a balance in your life – love, inner peace, family and whatever else is important to you, not just stuff. And that the Law of Attraction is inconsistant? Not so either. All that said, I have managed to change some beliefs, but I still have some to go. But I’m working on them.
  7. D. says:
    There is no ‘law of weather’. I find that to be a rather poor analogy, though some of the afterthoughts hit some marks.
    The law of gravity dictates that the apple falls, and will keep falling regardless of what obstacles are in the way. The law is not called ‘hit the target every time the apple falls’, the law is simply: it falls, and will keep falling until the law of gravity no longer applies, ie it comes to rest on the ground. So the law of gravity always applies, and holds true. Therefore, we can use it for our purposes. Ie – we can apply the law of gravity to calculate a certain path the apple must take to hit a target we’d like it to, such as a basket.
    What is missing in the law of attraction theory and its application is that no one knows, or teaches, how to properly apply that law. How does the individual *calculate* exactly how the law of attraction must be applied in order for the the object or situation that the individual wants to attract reaches its target?
    The first put-off I had about this ‘law’ was the mention about positive vs negative energy. All energy is just that. There is no positive and negative energy. Much like electricity powers a light bulb in a romantic restaurant or a torture chamber. Energy does not differentiate, it lights that bulb every time, everywhere. There are no scientists arguing about what conditions must be met or set in order to light that bulb over here or over there.
    So if TLA was indeed a ‘law’ then yes, it would work all the time. And it probably does. Much like the apple will fall, whether you are there or not, perhaps on your head when you least expect it, or right in that basket put down underneath. It is not that you are ‘attracting’ bad things some times, and good things at other times. You are attracting all the time, just like everything will fall until it has come to rest. But there’ll be more apples falling in an orchard around harvest time. If you don’t like apples or never get near an orchard you probably won’t benefit from the law of gravity much. The law of gravity is neither good nor bad if a brick falls on you foot vs that apple in your hand. The law of gravity only dictates that either will fall, if given the opportunity. Which brings me to another point – all of these laws are very opportunistic. They will apply themselves in full force with every opportunity. That also means they compete, because often more than one law applies.
    Back to LOA. The million dollar question that everyone is asking is: how do you apply the LOA? Too many answers (more theories than answers) for this to be a law. Where is the ON switch? In clear and simple terms, such, if you drop it, it will fall.
    True nature… that seems like an interesting concept, alas reminds one of another rehashing of rediscovering your inner child? And, by the time we lost our true nature, we were not fully established yet and the desires we have now are not the same as back when. Well, I will sign up for the transformational mini-course and see what this is all about. BTW, a newsletter three times a week is too much in the age of information overload.
    Thanks for the thought provoking topic. the LOA is a subject easily attracts an overload of information which I think can confuse people on what steps to take. With the issue of taking action, im not sure that its a matter of just taking action but for each person to discover what steps / action they need to take to get the results they desire. One thing I have noticed, having read many sites on LOA material, the bulk identify with people who have a job or a business.
    To my mind theres a gap needing to be filled for people who have a medical condition or have had to let go their main earning capacity due to occupational or other injury – its not simply a matter of impressing to them “get off your arse” its much more than that and as such identifying what practical steps to take to overcome the burden and barriers injury / medical conditions may have.
    Chris,
    I would like to direct you to Dr. Robert Anthony dot com because you are right on track regarding the LOA and the “work” needed on a subconscious level.
    However, your understanding of the subconscious “Inner Critic,” (as presented in your article)its function and relationship to the LOA may be slightly flawed and I fear it might derail your further efforts (products, books, classes) to create understanding in this very important area.
    I do understand your presentation was limited by the space constraints of your article. A detailed response by me is also constrained. So may I just offer an opinion and a direction to further information and study…
    In my over 40 years of experience studying the subconscious I have never found a better or clearer explanation (Dr. Robert Anthony)of exactly what the “Inner Critic” is, why and how it works in all areas of our lives…body, mind, spirit.
    I hope you take this in the spirit of sharing information and not as criticism.
  11. Conny says:
    I have been studying the Law of Attraction for some time now. The one thing the LOA proponents all have in common is they want to manifest money for themselves by selling programs on how to do it. That’s fair. I have no problem with that. Here is one thing I have not seen mentioned in any of the programs I have looked at. We all come into this physical world in which we exist with certain programs we have set for ourselves. We wish to experience certain situations that will help us to learn what we determined was beneficial for our spiritual advancement. No amount of re-programming of our subconscious mind is going to change that. Some people may have mastering the ability to re-program certain limitations as part of their plan, and then the LOA will seem to magically work. For others, that may not be the case, and they will fail with every attempt they make and conclude the LOA is a hoax. The most important part of your article, Chris, is one should emphasize discovering who they are. All this material “stuff” is just an illusion anyway. As Wayne Dyer says, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. That is who we really are and what we are here to experience.
    Thank you for taking time to read my comments, and for taking time to write about this important and interesting subject.
  12. Love the article, Chris! I did a blog based on one of your recent emails, because we seem to have many beliefs in common. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
    I believe the Law of Attraction is absolute and always works, but we judge it because we don’t understand how it works. You did an excellent job of opening a discussion around that.
    I have a system called Meta-ET(TM)that works with removing non-serving subconscious programs, replacing those with wonderful expressions of alignment. As I have come to understand this, our feelings are the most powerful attractor of our experience, so in order to attract that which feels good to us, it is beneficial to know how we feel. However, since we operate from the subconscious mind 95-99% of the day, we are rarely connected to what we are feeling. I learned how to read the “outer world” for clues, and my work teaches people how to look at the world outside as the subconscious mind.
    In order to truly remove non-serving programs, one must move into theta brainwave patterns so the suggestions are accepted/changed. To merely talk about them is to only use the conscious mind, so it is actually quite difficult using that method. When thoughts and emotions combine to produce an electro-magnetic energy field we call feelings, we increase the attraction. That is because heart-based feelings produce an electro-magnetic field that is 100 times more powerful than thoughts alone.
    Although I agree with “D” that emotions are not really good or bad, we experience them as such in human form, based on our early childhood programming, so in order to be in acceptance it is imperative to remove the earlier belief that is perceived as negative. I also find surrender is the fastest and most effective way to manifest, because all that is required of us is to simply feel good. However, surrender requires great trust, and once again, if a person is fearful of letting go, this will become an issue in manifesting what is desired.
    Okay…enough from me. Just wanted to pop in to say thanks, Chris! I really enjoyed reading your article. Take care!!
  14. Gertrude says:
    Calling it the Law of Attraction reduced many people to immature irresponsible children. One famous motivational speaker created a Ferrari. No thoughts about consequences for the environment and whether that was a wise choice. Everyone wants to become millionaires, without doing anything. Those of us, that were severely traumatized before the age of 6, know the law of attraction works. Beliefs in the subconscious keep repeating the same abusive, painful experiences of abandonment, abuse, addiction etc. Like Bruce Lipton says, almost impossible to change. Almost!!!!
    I watched the Secret and then returned to my positive belief, i always felt as a child, that there was a reason things happened to be as they did. Added on with the adult belief, my soul simply can not be that stupid to create experiences, positive or negative, if they were not ultimately the best that could happen to me. Disciplining myself in ways to improve my emotional feeling, seeing it as a clearing, a purification process, brought resilience in an ever faster transformation of any negative feelings/emotions i may temporarily have. I learned in time to stay more true to the vibrations of the kind of life i want on this earth, dismissing after acknowledging, never ignoring, all the situations, ways of being in this world i do not want. I would not refuse the millions, but more than that i want to own myself, overcome my fear, triggered by ancient traumatic experiences projected in the future, and panic for all the negative things happening in this world. Momentarily i succeed in staying in the vibration of peaceful tranquil sanctuary, then again loosing it and standing the emotions of despair, wanting to quit, knowing i am resilient, i have practiced, i own myself, my emotions no longer own or control me. Rage is something of the past, through which i hurt innocent people. I can be proud and celebrate that i overcame that. But most of all i stayed true to being responsible, confidently hoping i will be fully empowered for whatever i will encounter in this life my soul chose.
  15. Hi Chris,
    I believe your orientation is correct, you have succesfully pointed where the problem is (the automated, mechanic low personality comprised by some primary subpersonalities-egos among them the inner critic).
    I have already signed up for your program (I am always interested in getting to know approaches by people who seem to have walked the path of personal transformation – although we are at constant evolution- anyway I happily decided to check your stuff, it seems interesting).
    As far as it concerns TLA per se, as one of the contributors of a site that presents a manifestation system that goes beyond the simplistic recipe of the law of attraction and the way it has unfortunatelly been commercialized, I would like to say that there are some other aspects (very important parameters) beyond our reach, spiritual in nature, that are very well explained in the text “why what you have been told about the law of attraction is not enough…” that exists in our site
    http://morphogenesis-system.com/main_content_full_eng2_adv.html
    I believe you will find this text very enlightening.
    I wish you to keep up the good work
    regards
    While I do believe we have the power to direct our lives through a combination of our core beliefs, feelings, and action. The main problem I have with the system of belief that states “we attract what or who we are” completely ignores the fact that bad things do happen to innocent people who are in NO way attracting the negative events.
    To deny the fact that there are things that we do NOT attract to ourselves is to say that every innocent child who is abused brought such abuse upon themselves because of “who they are” or put in another way, their “true nature”. I think most rational people would agree that such a statement is rubbish and even harmful to those people who have been severely traumatized by the cruel actions of others.
    We share this planet, this existence, with many souls all of whom have their own beliefs, feelings, and choices. Everyone affects everyone around them for better or for worse. Everything we feel, say, and do has a ripple effect. We are not in complete control of our own experience because it is swayed, “rippled” in fact by others. We can only control our reactions; control what feelings we will allow ourselves to have, what thoughts we allow ourselves to focus on, and what actions we will take to move our lives in the direction we want.
    Dimitris, I see a lot of conflicting influences in your article. Stuart (gone) Wild, various religions, a bit of chaos magick, and a mishmash of other things.
    You mention two other laws, yet forget that in nature all forces always strive towards a state of equilibrium. You could add a meriad of other laws that are all driving forces behind this aim towards equilibrium. Essentially you can pick the LOA apart to a point where it becomes pointless because of consideration of all sort of possible influences. Such an argument is based on the outcome, not on a single law itself. Back to the comparison with the law of gravity – you drop it, it falls. But, you want to drop this special item from over here to hit the bucket over there, then there are more influences at play than just the law of gravity.
    So the question is: is the LOA absolute, or are there so many other outside influences that it becomes very hard to hit the bucket (jackpot)? And I guess that is why so many people have problems with LOA. Because if it was an obsolute law, drop->fall, then people would have more success attracting the things and situations of their choice on all levels of consciousness. Therefore, it is not an obsolete law, perhaps not even a law at all… I am not saying that it is all bunk, just that people, including the teachers, don’t quite have the right recipe yet.
    You also mention people who do not seem to be worthy or caring about attracting something like winning the lottery but win anyways. That is rather assumptious. Anyone who bought a ticket is actively attracting a win, or else they would not have bought a ticket. Whether they are worthy or deserve to win, is also a mere matter of perception. Everyone is deserving of financial abundance. They certainly think so. A person on the outside looking in may not think so. But that does not say anything about how and if they attracted this into their lives and if they are deserving of it.
    Also, why would the law of attraction fail to work for someone who is not ready for what they are attracting? That is like saying the ground is not ready to receive the apple that falls from the tree. Gravity is not at fault if neither ground nor apple are ready. Gravity is what it is, and so it is with attraction. Should be anyways. So why would attraction not work if the receiver is not ready? Makes no sense. For one because people are constantly in situations they are not ready for. Parenthood, jobs, financial windfalls, fame, you name it. Yet if person X is not ready, then attraction is not working?
    These are the kind of paradoxes that confuse people. Rightfully so. If it is a law then attraction must be every where all the time, just like gravity is there everywhere all the time, but only produces visible results for us when something actually drops, rolls downhill or goes splat. Or when we observe items littering the ground. They are all proof of gravity. We don’t have to be there, do anything to constantly observe that law in action.
    Just like we can harness gravity we should be able to harness attraction, and reliably so. The question is exactly how and how to every single time, Just like the drop->fall scenario. That is what people are after and what is eluding everyone still. Because even those that are most successful at attracting, will not do so all the time.
    You also talk about vibration, good/bad, neg/pos. That is all a matter of perception – in the eye/mind of the beholder. Lets say someone is convinced they are doing something fantastically good for man kind and lets say because of this he raises his vibrations which alligns whatever laws or forces are neccessary to realize whatever it is they wish to make real or get or attract into their lives. But later it turns out to be horrific. Then how does this apply to these laws? Raise vibration on something positive, lower vibration on something negative… that is the current teaching. But is positive really positive?
    Take Hitler for example. He was certainly convinced, at the time, along with so many others, that what he was doing was good, and for the good of mankind. Now looking back, not good. Please don’t argue that it did not work because it did not end well for him, or argue karmic consequences and all that sort. Fact is, he came out of no where, and made something unbelievable possible, on a huge scale, in the name of good, so he thought.
    There are enough examples in history where the bad did not end quite so well, but who is to say that reaching old age and ending it with a long period of suffering while hooked up on machines that prevent life to end its way naturally is a better option…
    What is good or fortunate for one, can easily be the opposite for another, in the very same instance. Ie a fisherman who hooks a fish. His good (luck) that he caught a fish that will feed him or earn his keep. Bad (luck) for the fish that (mis)took the bait. Who is right? What is bad and what is good here? The fisherman raised his vibrations to attract a fish to his lure, and the fish lowered his vibrations to fetch the wrong bait… And is catching and killing the fish really going to affect karma? We rationalize that it was just a fish, so perhaps not, or of course not. Some people may beg to differ and say, yes absolutely. Where do you draw the line? Why is killing a fish so different than killing a rabbit, pig, horse, dog, or person, a tree or a flee, or the bacteria with your antibacterial soap – karmically and vibrationally speaking. Sorry Dimitris, but I can’t agree with your theories. Too similar to so many guilt-based religions, just wrapped in a new cloth.
    well now what a con this LAW is!!!. No matter how you dress it up.
    Life is as life is, sometimes up sometimes down. sometimes coasting.
    The trick is accepting it ALL – as our path, journey, fate, call it what you like.
    learning from all that comes our way and walking with love in our hearts. Getting clear with motive and intention to be the best that we can be. Not better than the other just the best that we can be.
    AND trusting that we are exactly where we are meant to be on the tree.
    That does not mean giving up rather to make ourselves AVAILABLE to life as we take full responsibility for our own choices.
    We all come to this realm for adventure in my humble opinion and getting tied up in the idea of attracting wealth and hot mates just seems awfully shallow. My favorite phrase to my kids after a difficult time is “well, what did we learn from, this?” If we really wanted nirvana, we would have stayed there. I personally think we get bored and come here to find a bit of separateness. Once when I was wondering outloud why I got to be born into a place where I did not have to worry about starvation or war, I was told quite clearly that my trip was mine and I was not to worry about other people’s relationship with the Devine. I don’t often get such clear messages so I figure it must mean something for me at any rate. If i were to get tangled up in wanting more than I have, I would not be able to appreciate what I have. Shame on people who try to attract money from the lost masses. Great post!
    Thanks Chris, its a great post!
    I agree with you. Since a few months I begin teaching to people how to reconnect with themself. Find their Soul and the bases of their inner life. Find their inner peace. And its not a magic tought. We have to take action, looking ourselves and in first place see who we really are. What are my strengths and weaknesses. And after that we can work on our life. If I know me, I can work to change my negative toughts to a positive tought.
    So, I can talk about that for hours!
    Thanks again!
    I am a member of a private club that trains in the Law of Attraction as shared within the secret societies of the elite class.
    One question to ask yourself is: who do you listen to?
    If you are listening to people who are making their money by selling books and programs on creating wealth, without having created their wealth first, you are misleading yourself.
