As A black belt in tae kwon do, and mixed martial artist I found this article refreshing. I have been my spiritual journey since birth. I excelled in martial arts because I had such desire to do so. But I fell away from my martial arts studies. But it left its imprint on me. And the intuition has stayed with me, but My disipline was Lacking until a spiritual awaking Dec. 2008. I know with all my heart the world is at a defining point. Mankind has been asleep much too long. It is time to think outside our 3d world. And usher in a new evolution of human consciousness for all intelligent life forms. So I say K-ya to our future.

Thank you for sharing these thoughts, about our power within. It really touches a chord with me. In August, this fine website published my poem: ” A Dweller Within”. A lot of people these days are becoming what I have termed “reverse-gullible”. That’s where they will believe anyone’s opinion unless they’re an expert — as long as someone who has no qualifications says it, or someone is against what someone who has trained says, or it’s called “new” or “enlightened”, or the only claims about their work is this guy’s friends, or 10,000 other people who don’t read anything but what they agree with, and so on, it must be true. A lot of people will really do anything to avoid thinking for themselves. Fortunately, it’s not most people, despite how it seems.

Anyway, the only problem I have is my emotional self wanting my mother’s approval, even though I know she doesn’t know what she’s talking about when she puts me down. I have trouble calling that the ugly word “ego”. It’s the little baby part of me I never grew out of thanks to her, and yes, that part is afraid I won’t survive without her, but no conscious thought will ever reach where a parent’s love is supposed to be and isn’t.

We need to hear this message over and over and over. With the media and popular public figures continually touting the same opinions and/or political interpretations as facts, it is far too easy to succumb to their conclusions or dire predictions. Being famous or on TV does not make someone automatically wiser, more informed, or right.
Lack of individual discernment, awareness, or thought not only harms us individually but also harms our society, as it did the whole town in this story.

Great article, well said.
It is important to keep in mind that the mass media is presented from someone elses optinion.
Giving your own voice enough volume to be heard over the noise is the challenge.
