The Teleseminar with Misa Hopkins just ended a few minutes ago and my energy system is still buzzing. What a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
Misa not only told us about Sound Healing, she gave us a phenomenal example. I plan to listen again and again, and I expect that many of you will do the same.

Answers to Sound Medicine Tele-Seminar Questions
Can music heal chronic diseases, e.g. high blood pressure or diabetes? In such cases, do you use the music once for healing, or must it be used daily as in the case of prescription medication?
Yes, it can. I have healed myself from MS using just my Sound Medicine. One of my CDs effectively lowers their blood pressure. I once did my Sound Medicine while my friend Toby Christiensen, a healing drummer, played for a woman with high blood pressure. She took measurements before and after. Before the session, her readings were very high and after the session, her blood pressure was normal.
After my instantaneous healing experience with my mother, I held an expectation that healing had to be immediate or somehow my sound medicine wasn’t good enough. Over time I realized that getting to 10 seconds of pure healing intention with sound was something I had to learn to be able to do. And knowing where to focus the sound medicine makes a difference and that too can take a while to discover.
Often our healing is a process of unfolding, so listening to sound medicine, or singing to yourself on a regular basis, is simply a natural and wise approach. For example, my MS took 3 months of daily listening 3 times a day, and another 6 months of listening about 2-3 times per week.
When composing a piece of music, what must I do so that it, for example, will relieve pain? What must I do differently as composer compared to when I’m just writing a love or pop song?
There are musical phrases that hold immense healing power. For example, I find the base-line in Eric Clapton’s song Cocaine, to hold energy for death-as in dying to old concepts in order to be open to new ones. In my Awaken the Dream CD, the interlude between versus in the theme song is a little medicine song for universal awakening. You would hardly know it in listening to the piece, but children seem to gravitate to it immediately.
Consider focusing on what you are intending to transform, such as your digestion, for example. Invite your body, emotions and psyche to a higher level of transformation that allows your stomach and intestines to enjoy absolute health and freedom. Then be still, open to Divine flow and play.
Is there a sound that once heard all we would have to do is remember it, and
play it in our minds, in order to feel a deeper connection to Divine Source?
Ah, I have heard a few beliefs and theories about this. Some say the “Ohm” is the universal sound and first sound of creation. I have also heard in deep meditation that some are drawn to the sound “Ma” as the first sound from Source. I love to sing both of them and have different mystical experiences with each of them.
This is what I do know from my own experience. Within each of us are core sounds or medicine songs-short musical themes, some with syllables, some without-that are our unique connection to the web of life. Some of these songs are for our lives, hearts, healing, power, etc. At the center of these songs is a common sound that is our thread to the Divine. When we listen to this sound, we remember our connection to Divine Source.
Dr, Andrew Weil believes that “all healing happens when we are in the deep”.
does your offering “take us to the deep”?
Deep is indeed part of the equation. When we are fully relaxed, when our mind is quiet and we are fully open to the Divine, we are in a state of ultimate readiness to be the healed being we are naturally. This awareness of being fully healthy and free is already in us. It is our natural state. When we are in the deep state of witnessing and loving ourselves without judgment, we can once again remember who we really are and call this healthy state into being.
Sound Medicine often carries people into trance state where they are deep within themselves and unattached to the earthly realms. In this place of witnessing and non-attachment the state of wholeness is often once again experienced in the body.
I understand that “NASA scientists” sometimes measure music – for its effect
on the body. Has your music been measured? And if it has, do you know what machines or equipment they used to measure the effect of music on the body?
The effects of my Sound Medicine has been measured by Kirlian photoagraphy and the effects of my sacred music has been measured by a long-time student of Dr. David Hawkins, who measures degrees of consciousness.
In the Kirlian photography, we witnessed changes in the person’s aura over a 5 hour period after an individual Sound Medicine session in which the person’s aura became increasingly clearer. Using Dr. Hawkin’s consciousness scale, my sacred music measures at the highest rank for conscious awareness. Those are the only studies done to-date.
How do I get good sound for singing?
The good news about Sound Medicine is that you don’t have to be a good singer. In fact, sometimes my opera trained voice gets in my way. The only true requirement I have discovered is that you be in a place of deep loving compassion and then open fully to Divine expression through you. Even seemingly ugly sounds can be necessary for healing. Then as you practice your Sound Medicine, challenge yourself to go deeper and deeper into the center of the sound. In the center, you experience the power of the Divine sounds.
