The Greatest Advice of All Time

So why are you interested in the ‘Law of Attraction’ anyway?

Obviously, it’s about doing what you really want to do with your life.

We’ve said it repeatedly, quoting the wise man’s adage:

Money and fame do not happiness make.

Of course, they may help in being happy. For example, it’s pretty nice not having to worry about money. Let’s face it… Most people like money. And others like fame, and many like both.

The thing is… money and fame are usually merely external confirmations of the fact that you’re being happy and doing what you want with your life already.

If you are, money and fame are usually no issues anymore. You either don’t care about them because you’re being happy anyway. Or (many times) they may come as side-effects, or symptoms caused by the fact that you’re already being happy with yourself and your life.

That’s where the principle of being happy and grateful for what happens to you and the situation you’re in is relevant.

Clearly, money and fame are really different things compared to the desire for money and fame. The desire for implies that you’re not being happy and grateful right now, thinking you need money and/or fame in order to be happy and do what you want with your life.

This underlying feeling of needing (and thus the deeply-engrained feeling of lack) determines what you send out… the frequency you broadcast if you will. And this frequency ‘attracts’ a like frequency, and this is the mechanism through which needing pushes things away in a very small nutshell.

Anyway, this is something we’ve talked about more at length in other articles, so we’re not going to repeat this anymore.

In this article we want to get into something a bit more concrete… something more practical to use in your life. This might sound simple, but upon deeper thought it may just be the greatest word of advice of all time…

You know, according to the American physicist, philosopher and management expert Danah Zohar, doing what you really want with your life requires what she calls ‘Spiritual Intelligence’. It’s about your own, personal, deeper actuating motives.

Zohar says that self-development and purpose/meaning are principles that are central to spiritual intelligence. When you’re in touch with your own ‘inner universe’, you can develop your talents and give full scope to your natural gifts.

As such, you’ll live the life that fully matches who you are (which is not necessarily the life that others think you’re supposed to live). Within yourself, you’ll discover your own actuating motives and what really inspires and animates you.

Zohar says that when you manage to live your life from that inspiration, you’re quite a happy person. This pretty much connects to what the American psychologist Abraham Maslow (who came up with the so-called ‘hierarchy of needs’ aiming to explain human motivation) called ‘self actualization’.

According to Maslow, self-actualization is the ultimate state of human development, a spiritual condition in which people are creative, ‘playful’, and tolerant. And if you’ve read our books and articles, you know that these are the very conditions that facilitate the extent to which you can ‘work’ the ‘laws of the universe’ (if you want to call them that).

And you know what? There’s actually a specific group of people who can teach us a lot about this state of ‘creativity’, ‘playfullness’ and ‘tolerance’, or rather ‘spiritual intelligence’…

These people are children. Kids are almost the very paragon of spiritual intelligence.

Of course, this doesn’t mean we should all start behaving in infantile ways. However, we can start to look at the world more like children do. We could start to re-invent and re-discover the qualities that we so often lose in the process of what’s called ‘growing up’ and ‘becoming adults’.

Those qualities are:

Being open
Trust
Sincerity
Being genuine
Curiosity
Eager to learn
Generosity
Feeling adventurous
Wonder and astonishment on the least things…
And not to forget: unconditional love.

Let’s face it… People who are living life like this are pleasant company, both to themselves and to others.

Spiritual intelligence has got nothing to do with religion or faith. Of course, both are fine if pursuing them makes you feel good inside, if pursuing them is your own choice if it’s not imposed on you by others.

No, spiritual intelligence is about self-reflection and intuition. There’s a difference between what many consider ‘being spiritual’ and ‘spiritual intelligence’.

You can do reiki, qigong, meditation, burn incense, do rain dances in wildlife outfits all day and read books about ‘spirituality’. And of course that’s all fine if that makes you feel good.

However, ‘spiritual intelligence’ rather refers to making the choices that suit you and actually consciously experiencing and feeling the satisfaction and feeling of fulfillment and self-realization that come with that.

That’s what’ll make you happy.

So what’s potentially the greatest advice of all time?

REMAIN CHILDLIKE.

Be open. Be adventurous. Be curious. Be eager to learn. Be genuine, not least to yourself. Don’t judge. Acknowledge the wonder of life and the amazing experience it brings.

After all, it seems so real, doesn’t it?

In the words of the late comedian Bill Hicks:

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly coloured and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while.

Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, “Hey – don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride…”

And we kill those people.

“We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.”

Just a ride… But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok.

But it doesn’t matter, because it’s just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money.

A choice, right now, between fear and love.”

So what’s your choice?

Remain childlike. And enjoy the ride!

The Revolution is receiving increasingly widespread attention for its straightforward explanations and instructions with regard to complex issues, which are made understandable for people from all walks of life. In essence, the true secrets of the ‘Law of Attraction’ and the other ‘Universal Laws’ are explained in much clearer and practical ways than the ‘enigmas wrapped in riddles’ that usually characterize the descriptions of the Law of Attraction and its application.

    “That’s what’ll make you happy.”

Surely nothing can make us happy. Happiness is our natural state. That is why children have it in abundance until we teach it out of them.

We just need to stop making ourselves unhappy.

As I have been reading and reading articles, books, different mentors of law of attraction . I feel its very well put across as u have mentioned too ‘be a child’ its true but I can explain all of it in very simple words. Teachings of almost all religions are same too , according to me stick to good character since it comes out as a result of pious thoughts, fulfil duties assigned to u according to ur relation with the person as described by the religion , don’t despair because hope and faith are keys to invite blessings, be grateful for everything u are blessed( I’m muslim , so when we say thankGod once we get double the blessings we r thanking for),this way u will give universe the message of already having the posession of happiness yet u r asking more of it by deserving it.don’t crib, feel jealous , resentful etc or have any negative centiment for any body , this is law of attraction

I think you’re right. If we would just do what we enjoy, we would all be happier people. Unfortunately, lots of us have been force fed someone else’s idea of what will make us happy; but what makes one person happy, isn’t necessarily what makes a different person happy.

We can’t undo the past and what we were taught, but we can adjust the future by changing our mind in the “now.” Things don’t have to stay the same, if you don’t like the way they are.

If you don’t believe that you can change your life and that someone else is under control (of you), then nothing will ever change. But if you can wrap your head around the fact that YOU are in control of YOU, then I believe you can change anything.

All you need do is decide how you actually want your life to be, and see that all this is just a game that we all play, then you can change things to match what you want; just play with all your happy thoughts, like a child plays with his/her toys and imagines their actions to be real…

You have hit the nail on the head with this one. It is a joyful experience to watch children at play. The carefree abandonment is inspirational!

It is so sad that somewhere we loose that “child like enthusiasm” and become adults. It reminds me of the Twilight Zone show many years ago about the old people in the rest home that started playing “kick the can” at night when they were suppose to be sleeping. They all became young again!

After all, it’s only a ride! Let’s have some fun!

Thanks Henk and Nicholas for this article. The comment above that said that surely we are naturally happy and so just have to stop doing things that make us unhappy made me think of the Alexander Technique. This body technique says that we only have to stop using our bodies incorrectly to have great natural posture and movement. I believe the body can tell us a lot about our human nature including our capacity for happiness.

  6. Beautifully written as awlays guys. I was wondering just this morning why people are so interested in the law of attraction myself. I know I am but it is all nicely summed up in this article.

I have always remained very child like and I find that a lot of people think I am to childish for their liking and yet it attracts so many people because they like that.

From experience I know that we all already know all we need to know to be happy or make ourselves so and the same goes success and abundance. The thing is that we don’t do the things that get us what we need so we get in our own way time after time.

If we know how to make ourselves unhappy, then all we have to do is stop doing those things and be happy and fulfilled.

Thank you as awlays for being value to my life once again.

about a year ago i started researching a health problem and it turned me into a health crusader(i still have a long way to go)one sight led me to another and another and i was soaking up every information i could get and believe me i got alot of information.and i’ve come to believe(not saying any of these programs dont work)everybodys answer lies in the bible with the quote”the truth will set you free”i’ve allways known that quote, but it hit about a month ago what it really means.actually its like alot of these programs.its as simple as remember or recount ever thing that as happened in your life that was bad or negative no matter how bad it is and get it out to someone you trust and be honest with your self and the “THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE” DOES THIS MAKE SENCE TO ANYBODY? so once you let that stress out of your head.your self confidence comes back and there is no telling how great your will be.god grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change and the courage to change the things we can.beleive in yourself

Suzie: That’s why I love the teachings of Jesus. If only Christians would follow them and love but not judge others. I know in our culture it’s not easy, but with effort one gets better at it.

As for being a child, my 5 children have shown me the way to happiness. People don’t understand why I love being around children so much. It’s because kids are so much fun to play with :-) Unfortunately, stick-in-thje-mud grown ups yell and beat the play right out of them. The good thing is, they can get it back. I have! For me life is an adventure. It thrills me to go outside and take a walk. I look around at everything the way I did when I was a child. I remember how good I felt going for a ride in the car with my parents and I relive that feeling while I’m driving.

Now that I am a ‘grown up’, I want the grown up version of the toys I used to play with! What fun!!! Boats, motorcycles, cars in all kinds of colors, houses with furniture, closets full of clothes to dress up in . . . oh what fun!

Great article, I enjoyed reading it. In Babels book Cosmic Ordering she mentions the same thing about being almost childlike to open up your mind.
Once you´ve read about this it seems so obvious but sometimes we need to be told the obvious over and over again, because its so obvious we tend to overlook it.
Anyway, I´m off to play with my marbles and toy cars now!
    Bye.

  13. Great advice. Even though I am The Happiest Person I Know, and as such have studied my self to find the reasons why and teach others, my “childliness” is not something I had credited! Up until now, I thought it was a by-product of my happy state – not the reverse. Thanks for your great article which has clarified this for me. I have always been childlike and most probably judged for it – but I am never one to justify my happiness to anyone. Rather, let them follow my example and hopefully become The Happiest Person THEY Know!

    Live Life Happy!
