Paul received a BFA in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1973. Artist’s Statement:
“Things are not as they seem nor are they otherwise.” Buddhist Scripture
We cohabit a common world that, according to our senses, appears to be pre-given. I believe that world, however, is not the world, it is only a world. The truth, which perhaps we all sense intuitively, is that we live in a mysterious multi-dimensional, multi-faceted world that is brought forth, moment by moment, by our own attitudes, interpretations, preconceptions and recurrent conversations.
Just beyond the invisible veil of our own certainty, lie many other worlds, just as “real” as the common, familiar, agreed upon one we see and take for granted everyday. My work is meant to present the familiar in a slightly unfamiliar way. An intention of my work is to challenge the viewer’s assumptions about what is real.
I want to touch that place in the viewer that knows, in their heart of hearts, that the world is not quite exactly as it seems. My desire is to produce images that evoke feelings of mystery and wonder and open the possibility, if even for a moment, that our existence is subject, much more than we realize, to the power of our imagination. I believe that beauty is as essential for nurturing the human soul as food is to the body.

Paul — these are breathtaking! I am torn between “In the Bookstore” and “Giving Freely”. Will you be framing and selling these? If so, my hand is waving in the air.
Fabulous! Simply divine pictures of flowers. what wonders lie in simple things!
Beautiful, Paul! Along the Path is my favorite – for me it represents bountiful abundance!
Beautiful array of flowers…..so vivid and peaceful at the same time. Usually you see red Bromiliads, not yellow.
The bookstore image is absolutely fabulous. As a prof graphic designer, i have seen many thousands -if not millions- of pictures and can get a bit numb, cause one sees a lot of repetitions. Your bookstore pic is a new story and it makes one wonder and think, so it produces a new feeling. Thanks
All flowers are beautiful.
I just love the vibrant colors in these photos…if you look at them with “soft focus”, as I look at many of the natural wonders around me it takes you even deeper into the subject of the picture, enhancing the already multi-dimensional effect. The word that best describes these photos for me is…Magnificent! They are lovely.
This would be one area of photography to which i aspire.
Thank you so much for this, Paul.
I could spend many moments being lost in each picture, although i feel intrigued by the flowers in the bookstore… it tells me how i take things for granted. the picture helps me get centred from time to time.
The one i resonate with the most is “giving freely”. it does inspire compassion, calm, abundance and peace in me. I like the velvetty feel of the crimson red petals…
Thank you once again.
God has graced us with flowers! Flowers are brilliant gifts from nature and Paul captures their beauty and brightens the viewers day!

These pictures have good energy!
Hi Paul ‘Giving Freely’…it would be truly wonderful if our hearts would open up every morning as these flowers and give love freely and unconditionally ,we would look and feel as beautiful as they do .
Blessing,Sandra
Paul, your face and your smile, tell the same story as the beautifull flowers. The same way they give their inner and outer MOST BEAUTY, is the same way God made those who CAN appreciate HIS Handwork. Beauty SHINES out of Both creations, man and nature.

Thank you for the clean, simple, impressions of our unseen friends,
the Angelic presences, visible in their colour function as flowers.
What pure delight radiates from them to help us in our life of service on this planet. Can we radiate anything less?
Very beautiful pictures. I love that distinctive line around the subjects. These flowers seem like people somehow. Thanks.
Amazing! Seems like they are original and live!
