God. The Universe. The Field. Even “Multiverse” is used these days to describe the “reality” that we live in. As of now, I prefer to use the term universe or reality field. It doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s whatever works for you, but I believe having a consistent label will help in order to gain a deeper understanding and have more control of your life.
In order to cultivate the power of your intention and mind in a way that’s beneficial to you and others, I believe it’s very important to have a firm understanding on a deeper level about what we know about reality, what we don’t know about reality, and how we can work within in the universe in more empowered, conscious way.
Below are two experiments that fundamentally changed the way I see the universe. I come from a scientific background (I have a degree in molecular biology) but also appreciate our spiritualty as human beings as a powerful way to access knowledge and wisdom inherent in the universe, beyond science.
But when science and spirituality actually do meet, virtually nothing is more exciting for me than this.
1) Bob Monroe’s Out-of-Body Experiments
Before The Monroe Institute came to be, Bob Monroe was well-versed in performing and teaching out-of-body experience (OOBE) trainings. He invited two, young bright minds – one a physicist, the other an engineer to help him perform experiments using scientific methods at his estate. Monroe wanted to prove that OOBEs are real and not just psychological phenomena. Monroe knew he needed scientists specifically, because they would be rigorous in setting up the experiments and analyzing the data.
So what did they do?
After Monroe trained the two young scientists how to do OOBE, the newly formed experimental team setup a control room and two isolated rooms. Each isolated room was sound-proof, with a microphone placed above a comfortable bed. In the control room, Monroe was setup to record anything that was said by the subjects in the iso-rooms.
Monroe would be in the control room, while the scientists would cross into an OOBE state, with the intention of meeting each other out-of-body and “hang out”, interacting and conversing with each other across the reality field. Remember, both scientists cannot hear each other they are totally isolated from sound. The young scientists were skeptical they could actually meet out-of-body, and Monroe was about to make them believers that OOBE was real.
Both scientists relaxed and went out of body as they had been trained. Monroe recorded what was said by each scientist in their isolated rooms. Returning to the control room, both scientists reported that they imagined they had a conversation with each other, but still they were skeptical.
Monroe played back the tape. On this tape the two scientists were having a conversation, as if they were in the same room talking about what they we seeing, asking a question the other would answer, and so forth. Both were astounded by this, because it was proof that they were able to connect in some kind of matrix, out of their bodies just as Monroe had predicted. These experiments were repeated many times over, this was not a one-time event.
So it would seem it’s possible to connect consciousness directly with out-of-body experiences given the outcome of this experiment.
2) The Faraday Cages
In the documentary “The Quantum Activist” Dr. Amit Goswami (also featured in “What the Bleep Do We Know?”) speaks often of something called quantum nonlocality. This simply means that events and connections can happen outside of space and time as we know it.
Goswami explains the following experiment in The Quantum Activist.
A team of scientists took two meditators and put them in separate rooms. These of course weren’t just regular rooms but Faraday Cages, soundproofed yes, but also shielded from all forms of electro-magnetic radiation. That means that all the forms of energy and magnetism that exist in “regular” space time as we know it are blocked.
Each meditator was instructed to go into a neutral meditative state. Both meditators are having their brainwaves monitored. Meditator A is shown a screen with an image on it, and she is told to look at it while intending to connect to the other meditator. The other Meditator B remains neutral in state.
As Meditator A looks at the image, her brainwaves shift. As she intends to connect to Meditator B, who isn’t focusing on doing anything but a neutral meditation, Meditator B’s brainwaves start to match Meditator A’s brainwaves! Remember, all normal EM radiation is completely blocked by the Faraday Cage. Goswami’s claim is this connection that was created from one meditator to another was happening outside of space/time as we know it, which Goswami says is quantum nonlocality.
Crossing the Reality Matrix with a New Bridge?
I’m a fairly smart guy, but not smart enough to fully understand if this quantum nonlocality or what this is, exactly. Yet it’s obvious to me that something strange and miraculous is going on here. Is the Monroe experiment above, evidence of quantum nonlocality as well? It would seem that deep, intentional thought and/or states of being are able to cross space-time in incredible ways and connect with human consciousness out there, possibly other forms of consciousness as well.
What’s the bottom line here? I believe science is clearly useful and powerful. Yet, so is spirituality on so many deeper levels. Enlightened masters of the past seemed to already know this about consciousness and reality; as more fringe scientists like those at The Institute of Noetic Sciences are proving with experiments that push the boundaries of mainstream science.
Perhaps bridging the two leads to possibilities that neither can do alone. Imagine that we could make these into proven practical, mainstream theories on the how the universe works – that we can directly interact with it and affect it with our mind power alone – involving practices that more people could use to step beyond themselves. Perhaps even to better our lives and the lives of all humanity and the world. Maybe that’s just my idealistic thinking.
So what do you think of the experiments and conclusions above? Do you think science and spirituality can be successfully bridged to create an even more powerful approach? Leave a comment below with your thoughts and let’s continue the conversation.
