  2. Hi Heather,

    After reading your article, I feel inspired to share with you my experience, since you mentioned the Law of Attraction, and how our thoughts affect our reality.

    First of all, I must tell you that I don’t have any serious weight issues, my weight is about the right weight for my height, but we ladies always want to have the perfect body and always think that we would look better with 5 or 10 pounds off. Anyway, about a year ago,leafing through a magazine, I found a picture of a woman, running on the beach, who in my eyes had the perfect body: slim, strong, powerful, fit, well-proportioned, etc. I think that one important element in that picture was the body portrayed was not too different from mine. As an ideal, it was not “impossible” for me to reach. For example, the woman was of average height, like I am.

    I put “The Body” as I called my picture on my vision board, in a little private space I have created which I call my creative workshop. I see it every day, and every day I still admire it, study it, blow it kisses, etc. Well, the AMAZING THING that happened is that a few months later, I started FEELING, without weighing myself, thinner!! People started commenting that I had lost a lot of weight! This happened in summertime. When winter came, and I started wearing my old clothes from the year before, they were ridiculously loose on me, one or even two sizes larger.

    And this was accomplished with no effort. No diet. In fact, due to heavy workload during the past months I had no time to spend on planning my meals, I ate normal food (no diet food), many times take-out food, junk food, chocolates sometimes, I ate whatever was available whenever I was hungry, that’s all.

    So, my conclusion is that vision boards work, and what are vision boards, but representations of our desires and thoughts and things we want to focus on and accomplish? Somehow, I think, The Body was imprinted on my mind!!

    So I thought I might share my experience with you and other ladies concerned about their body image. STICK YOUR PERFECT BODY UP ON THE WALL SO YOU CAN SEE IT EVERY DAY UNTIL YOU BECOME IT. IT’S EASY!!!

    I also have lost weight using the Law of Attraction – visualization and a Vision Board. It sure is easier than dieting.

    Hi,
    This looks like a very inspiring story and I believe in the law of attraction. But..I have to ask myself why is this addressed to “ladies” only? I am a woman and I see over and over books, ads, magazines and commercial products and on the whole, most of these things target women only! No wonder woman have body image issues and eating disorders. I have no qualms on the article it’s great, but why address to women only? These are my thoughts and thanks for listening!

    That is a great question!

    My mission and purpose with my work is to connect with
    women emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

    I address the exact issues that you speak about with
    women having body issues and one of the reasons for
    writing my book was to empower women in creating
    their ideal body on all levels…it’s really
    beyond what any Law of Attraction stuff will
    ever teach you.

    Most of my life I attracted men that only wanted
    me for my body and as a result I gained weight
    because my body wanted to express itself by
    keeping it stuck. I show women how to shift
    out of their negative body image, beliefs,
    and emotional state.

    This system/book gives women an entirely
    different view on how to align themselves
    on a deeper level …with the right tools.

    I feel many women out there are looking
    outside for answers..whether it
    be some fad diet, Hollywood celebrities…or
    the media.

    Once you learn to ask yourself the question..
    “what does my ideal body mean to me?”…
    you will be able to balance out that
    part of you that has been taking on
    other people’s values and love yourself
    in a way that is truly empowering.

    I get the law of attraction. I do believe all things are posible(you can have your cake and eat it) I also believe that I deserve to have what I want. I am clear about my goals…and keep in mind my focus which is to achieve atleast 18 pounds weight loss plus a toned and tuned in/up body. Yet because this isn’t what I currently have, surely by focusing on this with collage (similar to vision board), I’m also simultaneously focusing on my body as is (ie over weight, un-fit etc)?? Thus v little change!! I found the article inspiring, but
    maybe I’m not getting it after all??

    Hi Pam,

    The key is to never focus on weight…I have worked with women all over the world in helping them create their ideal body and the key is to never focus on the weight…your subconscious mind never wants to lose anything..so be aware of the language you are using.

    Think of your mind like a computer program…we are so used to being programmed to lose weight but in essence it’s not about that. Think about the word diet..the first 4 letters are DIE…that sends a message to the subconscious mind that it is depriving itself.

    There are many more things that can be wrong with a body than simply having to lose weight. You always refer to the weight problem when discussing how law of attraction can give you the body you desire.You would think that after all these women lost weight , they were going to look like Marilyn Monroe. Such is rarely the case. If you really want to help people have the body they desire, tell them they can have a well shaped body with nice legs. Any fool can lose weight, but how many of us can actually change the shape of our bodies. In case you have’nt noticed there are a lot of weird shaped people out there, no matter how much they weigh. According to Abraham-Hick’s books, you can change any aspect of your body and even make it young again. Why don’t you tell ugly people that they can be beautiful. You don’t need law of attaction to lose weight. I have never had a weight problem in my life and I am 57. I am very conscious of what I eat and always have been. The reason most people are fat is because they live on processed food filled with fat,starch and sugar. Take some responsibility for your weight.

    to some degree, i have to agree with what Jennifer Galick said in her post; however, I have found (after suffering for the past couple of years with an ailment) that we gain and sustain weight due to our PH balance being “out of whack”… which also leads to disease, by the way.

    One interesting thing though, is that PH balance can also be disturbed by “stress” and negativity… which means (for some) that, no matter what foods you eat, if your PH is out of balance due to emotional or psychological factors, that it may still be difficult to lose weight or acheive the “ideal body”. And, i beleive that this is where the Law of Attraction and a change of mindset comes into play.

    In battling the ailment that I mentioned above, I have made it a habit to consume foods that only nourish my body, and provide the energy needed by my immune system, in order to be able to heal. But, with the stress of not feeling well and still having to manage the day to day tasks that we all have, it was still a struggle to get back to normal… however, with meditation and using elements of the universal laws (which i incorporated to tell my body what i wanted done) both my health and my appearance have taken a turn for the better.

    That’s kind of a jackass thing to say, Ann. When people like Heather Picken put forth ideas about using the ‘law of attraction’ to change your appearance, it’s natural to become curious and begin to experiment further what else it is (or what else about you) that can be changed. And since we’re told CONSTANTLY that doubt and the question of “how” are the top killers in making it work, it’s only natural to question whether or not our limits in what we can and can’t change are rightly placed. Maybe you could turn back time on your appearance, heal a disfigurement, etc. or more? How can you ever know if you doubt the possibility right from the outset? Sounds like a stillborn effort to me. The book “Key to yourself” actually talks about this very topic, including weight loss…in fact, the book talks about some pretty miraculous healings…

    John, I’LL give your question a serious shot. I’m in the process of experimenting with this myself (with changing something else, I’m plenty tall *lol*). It’s kind of a pet project of mine, so I don’t have as much time to work on it as I should and I keep getting distracted. Who knows where I’d be if I had the time & resources needed to actually dedicate experimenting on this? Who knows? The next crap you see plugged & peddled on here could be mine *LOL*. The first conclusion I made is to NOT use the law of attraction 1st! You 1st need to focus mental conditioning, changing what you have in your subconscious. Notice your self-talk, if you ever catch yourself making a negative comment to yourself in your head about your height (HOWEVER SMALL the comment) or feel any twinge of negativity when you look in the mirror or encounter any other reminder of your height and your feelings towards it, that’s as good a sign as any that you need to focus on mental conditioning. You might want to look into subliminals and working towards self-acceptance. I know you’re thinking “self acceptance??? But I want to change!!!” I know but in order to do that, this is the 1st step. Sounds counter-intuitive but trust me on that one *lol*. Every bit of negativity, every level of your mind needs to be purged of disbelief. If even a small bit of negativity or disbelief is there, it WILL sabotage your effort. Whatever you build up in your conscious mind, however positive & well-intended, your subconscious will tear it all down saying “hey, what the hell’s this nonsense? This isn’t correct. I’ll just fix that for you and make everything normal again”. You COULD do the LOA 1st and COULD get results, but it may be temporary(depending on what it is) or results would appear on a much tinier scale. Since it’s tough to determine if subliminals have an effective script to address your needs (if they have ANYTHING in them at ALL *lol*) and hypnosis might take a really long time to “sink in” depending on your receptivity to it, I would try making a custom one.

    Just like in christianity, the saying “the faith of a mustard seed…”? Well they never explain that the opposite can apply for doubt. Example: Would you drink a glass of water if you knew and could see that it had a tiny, almost microscopic fleck of poo in it? I can already see your reaction to that question *lmao* Well, the same is true for faith. If even one level of your mind is afflicted, it will affect your chances. Unless you address this FIRST, you can use the law of attraction all you want, you can chant, you can visualize, you can spend tons of money buying the latest “self-help” that promises to change your life, but it won’t work….OR it won’t work to the degree you’re really after. If you use the ‘law of attraction’ without addressing this 1st, it’s like setting the most beautiful table for the most exquisite banquet…on top of a wet, smelly, rotten pile of trash *lol* Bon Appetit *lol*
