Marilyn Balke-Lowry – Biography
.
Marilyn Balke-Lowry is a native Houstonian and retired educator who has awakened her passion in art. At the same time, she has been able to deepen her spiritual connection and attempts to share this with others.
Her variety of techniques mirrors the variety in her life, and her approach is with the same zest as she experiences life. “If it isn’t fun and meaningful to me and to others, I choose not to do it. I am in a learning mode every day, and I try to convey that in all of my work.”
Marilyn has a Bachelor’s Degree from Sam Houston State University and Master’s Degree from the University of Houston.
She brings a unique set of experiences to the easel: counseling, teaching, training, international tour leading, sales, promotion, school support, political action, homemaking and parenting, each of which expands her work in a special manner. “ I love people, nature, spirituality and life, and I try to experience each with as much enthusiasm as the other. I pack as much spirit and joy into my days and my art as I possibly can.”
Marilyn resides in the beautiful forests of Montgomery, Texas, with her husband and their two precious cats. Between the two of them they have three wonderful sons: Jeff, Michael and Andrew, all of whom are extremely talented in their own unique ways.

Marilyn Balke-Lowry – Magical Mediterranean
.
Magical Mediterranean I – Acrylic on canvas
My art is spiritual and fun…not religious, but it comes from deep inside. Even if you cannot tell from the photos, my paintings are highly textural with a wide variety of embellishments andmetallic paints.
.
.
Magical Mediterranean II – Acrylic on canvas
I am an experienced therapist, and as such I work to help people to be the best they can be. One other way I can express this to others is through my art.
.
.

Peaceful Fishing Village – Acrylic on canvas
As a retired educator I have a lot of experience identifying what makes people feel good…and therefore enjoy their lives and share this joy with others!
.
.
Madame Butterfly – mixed media on canvas
I love nature, space, undersea and turning previously used materials into a whole new and beautiful art form.
.
.
Toucan of the Jungle – Mixed media on canvas
I use acrylics, some oils, pastels, pencils, crayons and lots of other objects. Most of my works are three dimensional or appear so. I love lively colors and upbeat subjects.
.
.
Tranquility – Oil on canvas
My artwork could be described as natural, organic, textural, fun and spiritual. I am a scavenger of re-usable materials, so I consider my work to be green, as much of it is recycled.

Your work is beautiful and natural. I love that you use “green” and recycled materials. I also love the wide variety of colors you implement. Wonderful work.
As for this post, the sequence of paintings flows very nicely, despite the variety of subjects. Though it seems everyone loves the different examples of Mrs. Balke-Lowry’s work. I think it is a plus, as variety has greater appeal.

Beautiful art! The colors are amazing! Your interpretation of nature is uncanny.
Thank you for sharing your art with us. The Tranquility painting made me want to sit beneath the tree and wait for my husband to join me. We meet every night beneath a willow tree in our sleep. Your colors are often bold which made me want to shout, and I can actually feel the influence of the Houston area in your paintings.
I love your use of color … particularly the way you utilize blues. All beautiful. Peaceful Fishing Village my favorite.
I love tranquility the most. It really stands out and puts me in a calm mood. There are very few things in life that can do that for me, so thank you.

Fantastic great art work. I really had a good time seeing it. I enjoyed this art to my heart.
Very nice work. These paintings reflect your tranquil and forgiving nature.
“Peaceful Fishing Village” looks like a place that I would love to visit and perhaps live. The idea of waking up and looking out the window and seeing the beautiful blue water and a number of small boats floating about is something that really is of great appeal to me. Plus, no towering skyscapers or pollution either! Just a pleasant town along the river and in the distance, the countryside. The “Magical Mediterranean” artwork is also quite relaxing and soothing to take in and appreciate. Buildings made out of stone also really standout and seem more natural than wooden, brick or metal buildings. They are just so attractive, both in real life and artwork.
I like the toucan with the red flowers. It is very colorful and vibrant!
Wow this a really a great collection that you have. I have always been enthusiastic about paintings and this sure is a exciting collection. My favorite one is the one with the bird, since its my favorite bird.
