How to Attract Money Using Mind Power… Part 11 of 20: Visualization By James Goi Jr.

Without even thinking about it, we are always imagining and forming images within our minds. When we do this deliberately for the purpose of governing circumstances, we are using a metaphysical technique known as visualization.

“Visualization” is the title of chapter 11 in my book, How to Attract Money Using Mind Power. Here’s the quote I use to open that chapter:

“Through our inner images, our mind is causing what happens to us all the time. Whatever we experience in our lives…is the direct result of these images.”
–Adelaide Bry with Marjorie Bair, Visualization: Directing the Movies of Your Mind, 1978

Yes, our inner images are causing what happens to us all the time. Boy, can that be a blessing or a curse. When we have a basic understanding of metaphysics and mind power, and when we use visualization intelligently and responsibly, the process can indeed be a huge blessing to us when it comes to our money-attracting efforts.

Since the language of the subconscious mind is images, when we visualize we are speaking directly to the subconscious mind in the way it best understands. And we’re not asking the subconscious mind to help interpret or translate our message, but we are instead making our message crystal clear.

For the purpose of attracting money, we want to visualize what we want to come about in our financial lives. We want to see our money coming to us and we want to see the circumstances that money will allow us to bring about. This is the process by which we turn our imagined financial desires into our financial reality.

So, visualize, imagine, the details of your ideal financial life. What will you be doing in this ideal life? What will you have use of and own in this ideal life? Where will you be and where will you go in this ideal life? See the bank statements, the home, the vehicles and the locations. Create on the inside what you intend to create on the outside.

When people think of visualization as a metaphysical technique, they most often think of some form of relaxation in a reclined position leading to visualizing with the eyes closed. And that is indeed visualization in the usual sense of the word, and that is indeed a very powerful metaphysical technique.

But, images are always forming in our conscious and subconscious minds. It happens as a natural result of our thinking processes, whether or not we intend for it to happen and whether or not we are aware that it is happening. This is useful information to those of us who are actively engaged in the ongoing task of attracting money using mind power.

It gives us fair warning that we need to be mindful of the images we allow to form within our minds. We need to guard against giving rise to images of financial circumstances we do not want to create, and we need to strive to entertain images of financial circumstances we do want to create.

Aside from the image-forming that is always going on as a natural result of our thinking, though, we indeed do want to spend time in the more formal way of visualizing which is done in a relaxed state with eyes closed.

You can do formal visualization any time you can get comfortable and have some privacy and quiet. Two of the best times to visualize are upon waking and as you are waiting for sleep to overtake you. At these times the connection between your conscious and subconscious minds is much less obstructed than is the case during your normal waking state.

You always want to visualize with positive feelings such as expectancy, gratitude and excitement. When you care to, you can add power and focus to your visualizing by doing affirmations related to what you are imagining.

You know you should only visualize and imagine financial circumstances you want to bring about, but sometimes what we want to bring about is not a good thing for us to bring about. We want to be the architects of our financial lives, but we need to be intelligent enough to know that we don’t know it all. We should understand that we need to allow our higher selves, God, the universe, or whatever, to override our desires at times.

With that in mind, here’s a helpful statement which you can voice or think after having visualized desired financial outcomes: This or something better with only good for all concerned. That statement can help keep you out of trouble you may otherwise have gotten into.

Here’s another quote I use in my chapter on visualization:

“Manifestation through creative visualization is the process of realizing and making visible on the physical plane our divine potential.”
–Shakti Gawain, Creative Visualization, 1978

Obviously, visualization can be used to bring about desired outcomes in any area of our lives. And you should use visualization in other areas of your life if you are so inclined to do so. But for our purposes here we are concerned with the fact that visualization can help us to attract money.

So, if you want to have a larger income, see yourself with that income and see the various details of what your life will be when you have that income. If you want to have a greater net worth, see yourself with that net worth and see the various details of how your life will be when you have that net worth.

It’s a funny sort of fact that we must see the circumstances we want to have in our lives before we can see those circumstances in our lives. Our power lives in our imaginations. Our imaginations are the workshops of our reality. Visualization is yet another very effective mind-power tool with which we can create the financial lives we dream of living.

Decide what you want, then see it as yours, then you will really see it when it is yours. That’s the process.

Hi James, Thanks for the Chapter 11 (Visualization).

The whole process is explained in here very clearly, which is very easy to understand and apply.

Anyway, should we visualize our expected financial goals regularly untill we achive those ? or after some days of regular visualization one should “Let go” and wait for its manifestation.

    Thanks once again.

I hate when things start to get muddled, I also think you have to change you’re focal point you’re energy body from certain energy bodies you can only create certain experiences. All this stuff is tremendously difficult. I’ve been on radio shows and had little bits of sucess here and there but how the hell do you get yourself out the trap permenantly. It’s not easy or is it?

  7. paul k (September 16, 2010 at 7:12 pm): Thank you for your comment Paul. I don’t believe I fully understand all you are saying or asking, so I can only address the question I think I may understand. If by “trap” you mean circumstances you would rather not be experiencing, I don’t know what to say about a way to permanently get out of that. We all experience things we would rather not experience. It’s part of life. Often, in looking back, we will find that we learn the most, and even gain the most, during times when we are uncomfortable and wishing things were different than they are. As far as how to “permanently” change things in our lives, the best we could do would be to permanently change our thinking and feeling about those things. More realistically, though, we can change to a degree, even to a great degree, but will at times have challenges maintaining our new mindsets perfectly. Life is not static; Life is dynamic. We are constantly being influenced for both good and bad, from both within and without. Life is a constant challenge, and we must arise each day and do our best to meet the challenges of the given day. We live our lives the best ways we know how and we continue to learn in the process and thus we, ideally, learn to live our lives in better and better ways. If we stay more positive than negative, we will tend to get more positive than negative results. But I doubt any of us will reach the point where what is going on inside of us and/or outside of us is 100% positive as it has to do with us and in our estimation. That’s not how things work on this planet. But, most people could experience way more positive than they are experiencing and way less negative than they are experiencing. How? They would have to think way more positive than they are thinking and way less negative than they are thinking. It’s not a magic pill. It requires fortitude. It’s not always easy. But, it can be done and it does not require super-human effort. It requires sincere, consistent, human effort.

  8. pj (September 16, 2010 at 7:58 pm): Yes, the mind can also do negative visualization about money or any other subject or scenario. In fact, the mind is always visualizing, either positively or negatively, as part of its normal functioning. For the average person, much of that visualization is negative, meaning the person is visualizing, imagining, things they do not want to come about. This is precisely why positive thinking in general, and positive visualization in particular, are so important. How do we keep the negative movies at bay? Well, it’s not by directly trying to stop them or to deal directly with them in any way. The way to keep the negative movies out of the mind is to, first, be aware of the images which are arising in our minds as a result of our thinking and, second, to continually strive to govern the process to insure that the large majority of the images we entertain are positive, meaning they depict things and situations we would like to see in our lives. When we consciously turn towards the positive in our lives, in visualization or in anything else, we are as a direct result turning away from the negative in our lives. That’s the process. Consciously move towards the positive as opposed to consciously trying to move away from the negative. Consciously trying to move away from the negative never works. Resist the negative and it will persist. Embrace the positive and it will crowd out the negative. As a natural consequence of our thinking, images form within our minds. Thus, the most powerful single thing we can do to keep the negative images at bay is to think about what we want, not about what we don’t want.

  10. Rouf Chowdhury (September 17, 2010 at 6:21 am): Hi Rouf… Thank you for your positive words. Each person should use visualization in the ways they find most comfortable for them and most suitable to them. But, if we are doing formal (eyes closed) visualization, it just makes good sense to do some for our financial lives as well as any other areas of our lives we may be visualizing about. Many people won’t do formal visualization all that much. But we should remember that since we are always forming images within our minds, it makes good sense to continue to entertain images of the way we want things to be, and that of course includes images of our desired financial circumstances. In the absence of images of desired financial circumstances, there will be more room and more opportunity for images of negative financial circumstances to develop and gain ground. Think about it. As we go through our day, we are constantly imagining things about the future: where and how we will live; vehicles we may be driving; our work/business lives; how we will be spending our time, and so on. Many of these types of things are and will be directly affected by how much money we have or don’t have. So, if we are imagining scenarios which would be likely if we had little money, we are in effect imagining negative financial circumstances. And if we are imagining scenarios which would be likely if we had a lot of money, we are in effect imagining positive financial circumstances. Overall, since the mind’s image-forming function is never turned off, and if we are not purposely forming images of desired outcomes we are often by default forming images of undesired outcomes, I’d say that there is a very strong case for the practice of continuing to visualize, imagine, the financial outcomes we want to bring about. We are always in the creating mode, so it just makes good sense to be engaged in the active, deliberate, process of creating the financial circumstances we have decided we want.

Hi James, I just read your response to Rouf. I see your logic about continuing to visualize and based on what you say about the way the mind visualizes all the time anyway, I agree totally. I was wondering if you could say why some people say – as Rouf points out – that letting go is an important part of the process? Is there any logic to that standpoint do you think?

  12. Soul purpose says:

There is a lot of material on the internet about how to attract wealth and the LOA .Everything though starts with getting really clear about what you want to create at a soul level and understanding what your purpose is, your real authentic self because when you begin to master this you can begin to lift your vibration to assist with the visualisation/imagination etc. The problem here is most people are not really sure deep down what they want and need help with this because they have lost touch with their own intuitive wisdom.

  13. Leila (September 18, 2010 at 2:08 pm): Hi Leila… I do believe “letting go” is an important part of the process of attracting. But I think the letting go we want to promote has more to do with letting go of our attachment to outcomes; with letting go of any sense of neediness; with letting go of the idea and fear that perhaps we won’t get what we want. But I don’t believe that it’s a good idea to let go of consistently monitoring and governing the contents of our minds including the images existing therein. After all, if we do not purposely fill our minds with what we want to be in there, what will take that stuff’s place? Likely it will be (and experience shows it to be) lots of stuff we would rather not have in there if we could help it. Well, we CAN help it and we can do so by, again, consciously moderating our thought processes so they tend to be more of a constructive, creative, influence upon our lives and our finances and less of a destructive, detrimental influence upon our lives and our finances. It’s a fine line we walk between positive desire and negative neediness. The former brings good things to us and the latter drives good things away from us. Another thing to consider is that repetition has a profound effect on the subconsious mind. That’s why we cannot overcome a lifetime of negative thoughts and images with a day, a week, a month or even a year of positive thoughts and images. We cannot help but to think and to imagine. Much of our thinking and imagining will be future-oriented–that’s just how our minds work. So, when I hear someone implying that we just need to decide on what we want and to think about it and imagine it briefly and then let it go and give it no further thought, well, that (if it was even possible which I don’t believe it is) just does not fit my model of how I understand the subconscios mind to work. It may sound good in theory, but in practice it presents problems. Since we are always thinking about and imagining the future, and creating that future in the process, what will we do if we do not think about and imagine the future we have determined we want? There is only one answer: We will by default think about and imagine (and so create) a future we don’t want. For all of these reasons and more, I believe that thinking about, imagining and visualizing the future (both short- and long-term) we want should be an ongoing, daily, practice. Thank you for the question Leila and thank you for continuing to read my articles!

  14. Soul purpose (September 18, 2010 at 3:07 pm): Hi SP… Ideally, yes, everything would start with getting really clear about what you want to create at a soul level and understanding what your purpose is. I think that’s ideal, though perhaps also beyond the level of what the average person on the street is going to attain in the present moment. The problem for those people is that they create their reality moment by moment with their own thoughts whether they like what they are getting or not. When such people learn simple metaphysical techniques such as affirmation and visualization, it at least gives them the ability to begin to create more harmonious, abundant, circumstances in their lives which in turn can give them the time, psychic breathing room, and resources to pursue their spiritual unfoldment if that is what they are inclined to do. So, I guess this is a way of saying that the horse and the cart do not always need to be in the correct order for both to, in fact, be moving forward. Another thing I believe is that many of our desires are being desired through us by our higher selves and the universe at large. And I believe this is so whether or not an individual has identified themselves as being on any kind of a spiritual or inward path. Often it is through worldly desire, and its fulfillment, that we gain spiritual insight and perspective. And I also agree with what you say about the process of raising one’s vibration to assist in the visualization/imagination. I recognize, too, that there is more than one way to raise one’s vibration. One way is indeed to go the getting-clear/soul-level/purpose/authentic-self route. Another way is by harmonizing the conditions of the material, human, outward life. And this can be done by, and is often but not always a result of, one attaining what it is they desire–especially when the desires are divinely inspired as I mentioned above. This can take place with no particular “spiritual insight” being a part of an individual’s mental construct, and/but it can actually lead to eventual spiritual insight as a direct result of itself. Vibration is all important, and both spiritual clarity and material harmony can lead to raising vibration, and spiritual clarity and material harmony can and often do feed each other. Yes, it is a problem that so many people are not really sure deep down what it is they want, and just as bad is the state of knowing clearly what one wants but wanting all the wrong things and for all the wrong reasons. Even though no one can ever completely lose touch with their own intuitive wisdom, they can indeed find themselves in the position of intuiting only a small portion of the information which could be consciously available to them. And perhaps even as often as that–and certainly just as detrimental in its effect on conditions and circumstances–is being in the position of perceiving the intuitive wisdom and either willfully or neglectfully or ignorantly overlooking/overriding it. Either way, the result is the same: People do things not in their own best interests and they cause life experiences which they would never have deliberately chosen to have. And how does one increase their ability to perceive their own intuitive wisdom? One increases their ability to perceive their own intuitive wisdom by being aware of its existence, by purposely being open to and alert to it, and by following it–in other words by acting in the ways the intuitive wisdom implies they should act. These practices will carry one far indeed towards attaining the spiritual heights to which they are capable within this life, as well as towards the fulfillment of their material/monetary dreams and aspirations. Intuition is a very important part of the process of attracting money with mind power, and it is the subject of chapter 15 in my book and so will be covered in article 15 of this series. Thank you SP for participating in this process of discovery and mutual teaching and learning.
