To bring this subject of how to attract money using mind power down to a basic focal point, it’s about developing the proper “money mindset.” So what is a money mindset? At its core, your money mindset is simply the way you think and feel about money.
So far in this series of articles, we’ve looked at the subjects of desire, belief and expectancy. Well, your money mindset includes your money-related desires, beliefs, and expectations. And, too, your money mindset includes any money-related resentments, regrets, and guilt you may have. Every single thought and feeling you have which has anything at all to do with money is a part of your money mindset.
Money Mindset is the title of chapter 4 in my book, How to Attract Money Using Mind Power. I open that chapter with this quote:
“Fortunes gravitate to men whose minds have been prepared to attract them, just as surely as water gravitates to the ocean.”
–Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, 1937
That quote makes a good point: You must prepare your mind to attract money. What you are doing is creating a state of mind. I call this state of mind your money mindset.
Your money-related thoughts and feelings determine if the resulting vibrations of consciousness will tend to attract or repel money. If you diligently and sincerely do what you are learning to do in these articles, you will create a powerful money mindset which will attract to you all of the money you want and need. Think about it. Do you believe that you can develop a money mindset which will allow you to attract all of the money you want and need? Well, that belief, or lack of it, is one of the most pivotal elements of your money mindset itself.
So, how will you develop your money mindset? To a large degree, you’ll develop your money mindset as a natural result of doing much of the other mind work you’ll be doing. You’ll develop your positive money mindset by increasing your desire, cultivating belief, creating expectancy and setting money goals; by thinking end results and thinking and feeling as if; by speaking as if and acting as if; by using affirmations and by visualizing; by getting organized in ways which help you attract money; by thinking, feeling, and acting in harmony with the “laws of money”; and by doing other related mind-work.
So, much of the work of developing your money mindset will actually take place while you are working on the other areas of your mind work. In addition to that, I give specific instructions in the book for dealing with your money-related resentments, regrets, and guilt. And even those things will tend to naturally improve as you learn of and begin to practice this new way of thinking.
Here’s something you can do right now: Begin to let go of negative money-related emotions. Do you have resentment towards anyone because you think that person took advantage of you financially or stole from you or didn’t pay you something they owed you? Strive to release that resentment. Do you have regrets because you feel you’ve made mistakes relating to money or because you feel you’ve missed opportunities that could have saved you money or made you money? Strive to release those regrets. Do you have guilt over having done wrong to others concerning money? Do you have guilt because you feel you acted in ways which have caused money-related results you would rather not have created? Strive to let go of that guilt.
Remember that resentment, regret, and guilt are negative, low vibration, states of mind. They will not help your money mindset—they will hurt your money mindset. You want your thoughts and feelings having anything whatsoever to do with money to be positive or, at the very least, neutral. This, of course, includes your thoughts and feelings having to do with your own circumstances and actions. Just as important, though, is that you have positive or neutral thoughts and feelings when considering how other people and organizations handle money. This is a crucial point.
Even though the money practices of others may or may not seem to affect you directly, the way you look at them affects your money mindset directly. Remember, the money mindset is all important. You could say the money mindset is more important than the money itself. With the proper money mindset, you can always attract money. With the wrong money mindset, you’ll tend to find it hard to even hold onto the money you have.
Here’s another quote I use in my chapter on the money mindset:
“Riches…correlate a rich mentality.”
–Helen Wilmans, The Conquest of Poverty, 1899
The term “rich mentality” is just another way of saying a “positive money mindset.” Riches correlate a rich mentality. A positive money mindset brings about positive money circumstances. And what are positive money circumstances? They are financial circumstances you desire to create.
Life is a dance of energy and consciousness more than anything else. Those who understand this great truth do more “work” within their own hearts and minds than they do “out there” in the material world. Remember: Circumstances are created inwardly first, and outwardly second. All that comes to be on the outside gets its start on the inside. Your financial circumstances are and will be a reflection of your money mindset.
Of course, there is most often a time interval between when something is created in the inner realm and when it becomes visible and “real” in the outer realm of our physical lives—but, what we create inside tends to eventually show itself outside. Know this great truth. Know that your money mindset is the foundation upon which you will build your financial reality. Resolve yourself to begin to think and feel and act in ways which will help you build up and fortify the positive money mindset you need to transform your financial dreams into your financial reality.
