I am an impressionistic painter and my work has been shown all over the world! Originally from Boston,  I have been painting for over thirty years.

Late afternoon is my favorite time to paint, whether I am on the beach or in my yard, and capturing that light with colors that are enhanced by the warm sun is exciting! I love to dance when I paint — I let
the music touch my heart and create the magic that I feel in my soul. I get so excited about each and every painting!

My passion to create paintings that make people smile and feel love keeps me growing as a painter and discovering more of my art! Paintings have a universal language — one that speaks to us from our
hearts, and when I see people smile, I know that I have created that magic! I see Everything as a painting.

I am working on a video series entitled, “Art Is For Everyone” that teaches people all different forms of art and how to find that creative genius in all of us. I teach workshops and give painting demonstrations.

“The “Joy Of Life” series is a series of paintings that captures those moments when we are experiencing that magic and joy of doing what we love — the simple things – - living life, being human, sharing love and laughter, and especially those tender moments when we are together with family and friends.

This painting first came to me as a simple idea …. Whenever children and even adults see balloons, they always smile! Then I envisioned children running through the fields with lots of colorful balloons. I pictured sisters holding hands and smiling and sharing those magical moments.

Sisters share a special bond — a friendship that lasts a lifetime — capturing that love and joy on canvas is an honor and the reason why I paint!

This was a very special painting done for an amazing woman. I love the beach, and the feeling of “Peace” that I feel when I am there is what I wanted to capture in this painting. When the sun sets, and the tide is low, there is magic in the sand.

This is a study for a series that I am doing depicting the beauty and the love of a soldier returning home to his family. I am doing a larger painting that will be made into a giclee and 50% of the proceeds of the sales of the giclees will be going to the Disabled Veterans of America. I am so excited to be doing this series, which will be done soon. The Joy that a child feels when his Dad comes home is a beautiful experience to witness.

Serendipity was in full swing. After signing up for a writing course newsletter, a message arrived with an intriguing house sitting offer. Would I be available to look after a 15th century chateau in the heart of the French countryside for a month, or longer?

My reply was swift and affirmative, and within a few weeks I was landing in London and on the Eurostar for Paris.

By having always viewed travel as exciting and enlightening, Spirit opened doors for me. A soul receptive to new growth is blessed with all kinds of adventure to help in its progression.

My goals were two-fold for my month long residence. First, I planned to keep a journal and second I wanted to use this opportunity to look for furnishings and fine art for my new business as an antiques broker. Having spent two years in London studying at Sotheby’s and getting a masters degree in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors, this seemed like a match made in Heaven, the perfect opportunity for the start of my new career.

The day after my arrival in the City of Lights I rented a small, trusty Citroen and headed southwest to my house sitting assignment, in the area known affectionately by the locals as “La France Profonde”.

Just around Orleans, the heavens opened with a blizzard. What I expected to be a pleasant afternoon’s drive turned into a seven-hour marathon of grit and endurance. Thank goodness I had lived and driven in a snow belt in the U.S. and was accustomed to these conditions.

From Poitiers to Montmorillon to the chateau, I traveled in darkness. Finally reaching the chateau, which was now invisible in the blinding snowstorm and howling winds, a friendly female figure emerged from the front of the gatehouse.

I rolled down the window and was hurriedly greeted by Chantal, who immediately directed me, in half English, half French, to follow her in my car as she stepped quickly toward the chateau, inside the main gates.

Opening the chateau’s side door, Chantal politely ushered me inside and shaking off the snow in the narrow corridor, I soon emerged into the large kitchen. Chantal’s husband, Pierre, soon appeared, speaking French rapidly. This friendly couple quickly admitted me to the inner sanctum, the fold of France. Language and customs are no barriers to the heart and soul.

As the month progressed, I would learn that there was indeed a Divine hand playing a part in my time here. For as I opened myself to learn another culture and absorb and accept all that La France Profonde had to offer, the rewards came quickly and in abundance. My diary grew and the new camera I had purchased to take photos of antiques was instead used for a new, unexpected endeavor — photographic art. This happy circumstance developed during my month’s sojourn, and was brought to an epiphany on a weekend visit to several chateaus in the Loire Valley.

First Chambord, built on a former marshland, with its pepper pot shaped chimneys, one for every day of the year. And then to Blois, Chaumont, Amboise and finally Chenonceau, following in the footsteps of pilgrims before me.

On a winter’s day, I entered the grounds of Chenonceau and stepped back in time. Guarded by sphinx statues and spanning the River Cher, I was led by a welcoming, unseen guide from one photographic opportunity to another. Through the manicured gardens and up through the levels of the chateau, until the piece de resistance came in view.

Stepping into the bedroom of Louise de Lorraine, sunlight began to stream through the southern facing window, and I felt the mighty presence of an enlightening and transformative power. And a story began to unfold.

Centuries ago, a beautiful, young French queen lost her heart’s true love, her beloved king. In the depth of her sorrow, she sought comfort in the healing spirit of God, through prayer within the sanctuary and solitude of her private quarters. Robed in long white gowns, she spent the remainder of her own life within the somber dark walls of this self-imposed exile.

Little did I know when I shot this photograph that like this queen, my life would also begin a spiritual journey that winter’s day. A ray of sunshine burst suddenly through the window of this royal apartment, and illuminated not only this brief moment in time, but also my soul.

I was born in Columbia, South Carolina, the Deep South, and have always enjoyed creating art. As a child, art came naturally to me through drawing, painting, writing poems and stories, needlework and dance. And living in a state blessed with an abundance of natural beauty instilled in me a love of nature and animals.

After graduating from college and spending almost twenty years working in the corporate arena, I needed a change. Somehow during that time I felt I had lost touch with that creative side of myself. So I sat down and wrote a list of things I enjoyed and what I’d really like to do. I’d always loved history, antiques and art, so I applied to Sotheby’s in London and was accepted.

Moving to London on my own and studying at Sotheby’s for a year, and then remaining another year to obtain a master’s degree in decorative/fine art and historic architecture from the University of Buckingham, helped me to remember my artistic roots. Living and traveling abroad reconnected me to that creative passion, which had long since become an ember.

I’ve always had a fascination with vintage cameras and films, so moving into photographic art and combining this medium with writing seems a natural progression of my career from the business world to the art world, in essence a full circle for me.

It is my profound belief that there are many mystical places on our wonderful planet that possess the power to heal, to reconnect to us our right balance physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Sometimes the seemingly ordinary, seen in detail or in a different light, can open us to the possibilities that surround us. We need only to open our hearts and minds, and our eyes will find them.

In my childhood, walking through the marshes of my home state and visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains at the ends of summers brought this serenity to me. My sincere hope is that these personal stories and artwork will help you find your own inner peace, and perhaps bring a remembrance of who you are.

I was born in Birmingham on 7th April 1949 and after I left school I worked in a commercial art studio until the age of 18. This was followed by three years with an exhibition and display company before I ended up as a full-time professional freelance artist.

One day by chance I was introduced to Bill Ward, the drummer of a local Birmingham band Black Sabbath and we soon became good friends. Eventually along with Bills girlfriend and a couple of roadies for the band we moved from the city into a farm house in the country.

Over the next four years life became pretty crazy and I started to spend more and more time with the band, touring, at the recording studios and of course the mad parties.

Although at that time life was mainly centred around the band I still continued painting. I received a number of commissions from stars including a mural in the house of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and paintings for Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) , Ian Paice (Deep Purple and later Whitesnake), Ozzy Ozbourne (Black Sabbath) and George Harrison (The Beatles).

In the late seventies I moved to Devon and my love of the ocean grew as I began painting seascapes to sell in local exhibitions. In the early eighties I painted a number of portraits including those of Bob Marley and John Lennon as I felt inspired by them and what they stood for. In these years I was becoming more aware of environmental issues and became a member of Greenpeace for whom I went on to paint The Rainbow and The Rubicon.

Nature and the environment and especially dolphins and whales began to feature heavily in my work. I became interested in whales because they are the largest creatures upon this planet and yet a perfect example of grace and harmony in their environment and dolphins for their wonderful playful spirit.

In 1990 I joined an agency and for the next eight years my work was sold internationally as posters, prints, cards, jigsaws, plates and many other formats. Relations with the agency eventually broke down and I decided to leave and go solo again.

My work since the agency once again took a more fantasy type direction and I worked on number of themes from hobbity type dwarf characters to visions of imaginary magical lands and images inspired from dreams. I have also in my time been involved in many projects on a voluntary basis for local charities, schools and good causes. Ive created a number of large scale murals in local schools as well as in private houses.

In more recent years I discovered the wonders of digital art and have experimented with a mix of digital and traditional techniques to not only create my work but also distribute it.

The original idea of an Angel came from a photo I took of a little french girl I met in Goa India her name is ‘Norangel’ I was then inspired having been at a Healing Ceromony where I learnt more about 2012 and the ending of the Mayan calender being a time of transformation a new beginning of conscious expansion of great Love and Light coming into the world and into our Hearts.

A tribute to John Lennon revealing the essence of the man and his music.

In 1981 I was contacted by an old friend who was at that time the road manager with the band Whitesnake. The band were not happy with current ideas for an album cover that EMI studios were suggesting and so I was asked to come up with a few ideas of my own. The album in question was called Come And Get It and my design of a glass apple with a snake inside was accepted. The album become a best seller for Whitesnake.

At a meeting with Whitesnakes vocalist David Coverdale and the rest of the band to discuss ideas it became evident that the house where they were recording was the very same house that John Lennon & Yoko Ono had once lived and where they recorded the song and video of Imagine. The house was Tittennhurst Park and was at that time owned by fellow Beatle Ringo Starr.

Later that night I took a look around the house and eventually wandered into that famous white room and sat in the spot where the legendary white grand piano would have been. A shiver ran down my back and at that point a I imagined the image as you see it now. It was only a few weeks after John had been shot in December of 1981 and a very moving experience. In 1988 I received a newsletter from Greenpeace in which there was a photograph of a boat which was to sail around the UK to research causes for pollution and the decline in sea life. The sailing boat was called The Rubicon.

History tells us that Julius Caesar and his army made a decision to flout an ancient Roman law and cross the Rubicon river in Italy and commit himself to action. I have always tried to do what I can and where possible use my talent to help the planet and good causes. As a keen supporter of environmental causes I committed myself to action and painted this picture with the intention of helping to raise funds for Greenpeace. It was made into posters and over a 2-3 year period raised over £20,000. I am duly proud of this image and the good it has done.

Reflection in the eye of an elephant. This painting came together through a meeting with a guy who told me of this dream that he had often had. He explained it as being a close up of an elephants eye with three elephants at a watering hole at sunset reflected in the eye and asked me if I could paint it.

It is said that when you put down a recurring dream on to paper that the dream stops but I never found out if it did.

This painting represents the fact that we, the human race, hold the future of the Earth in our hands and that if we don’t get things together we may drown in our own tears. The dolphins represent the spiritual side of our nature.

I donated the original of this painting to help raise funds for the Tsunami Disaster that shook us all that Christmas morning in 2004

I have had very little formal training when it comes to painting, but was always drawing and interested in art as a kid. From an early age one of my favorite things to do has been to visit art galleries and museums because I feel so nourished and inspired by the experience. I could spend hours getting lost in the colors, shapes, textures–especially when it comes to watercolor exhibits.

In fact, I was so drawn to that particular medium that I decided to start working with watercolors myself. There’s something about the look, softness, and fluidity they offer that appealed to my inner nature, and
since watercolors aren’t as easily controlled as oils or acrylics, I found there’s always an element of the unknown at work that can cause what I call “happy accidents,” where things come out differently, and even better, than planned. I also think that the medium having a “mind of its own” has helped me with letting go during the creation process and allowed Spirit to work through me more easily as things emerged.

Initially my paintings were of flowers and scenes in nature, but later my focus became more visionary as the “Emissary” series, represented by a number of the paintings featured here, began to manifest. These particular images were specifically created to illuminate, nourish, and inspire a greater connection with the realm of Spirit. These paintings of mystical beings, archetypal energies, and aspects of our larger identities are designed to serve as access points for “higher” dimensional information and spiritual “re-membering.” They can be used to catalyze shifts in consciousness, evoke more of your essential nature and true self, activate your inner knowing, and serve as focal points during meditation. Of course, they can always serve as wall decor, too. Gaze at them for a short period of time and you just might get taken on a little (inner) trip!

Born in 1948, I grew up as a country girl in South Africa.  Did my bit as secretary, wife and mum for many years, and once that was over, I found myself drawn to an easel and canvas.  I would only later find out that my cousin was the Head of Arts at a University;  so with the “art in my blood” I started out with no knowledge, but lots of enthusiasm.

I am mainly a self taught artist, but tried to meet as many artists as possible from whom I could learn specific techniques that I favoured.

Although I was mostly interested in painting wild animals in the beginning, the creative inner took over and I constantly researched and applied new techniques and subject matter.  Twelve years later I am an art teacher with a wide field of interest and experience which comes in very handy due to the diversity of subjects, styles and techniques my students want to acquire.

Apart from my classes,  I am currently doing portraits on commission and am also putting together lessons in digital form for a former student overseas who wants to share it with her friends.  My aim is that this will eventually become a “digital library of painting lessons” that I can also produce in printed form as we do not have any such material available here.

I do believe  I am one of the luckiest people around; having a career that is truly also a passion.

Art is my calling. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I am! Through 40 years of ups and downs art has been the one constant in my life. My professional Art career began in March 1991 shortly after the birth of my second son. My hope was to earn the part time paycheck I needed to be a stay at home mom. Eighteen years later, I’ve sold many drawings and paintings and thousands of prints all over the world! Thanks to all the wonderful people who have supported and purchased my art, my dream has become a reality. When I began 19 years ago, all sales happened on the road, there was no internet to connect me to the world. Although I still show in Galleries and sell prints in shops, most of my sales happen online. Welcome to the future! The best benefit to this outlet is that I get the privilege of dealing directly with the people who hang my art on their walls.

I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico less than an hour away from Santa Fe and only a couple hours from my hometown, Las Cruces. I live with my husband Aaron, youngest son Nate and two dogs in a great old house about half a mile from the Rio Grande River. You’ll find us walking along the Bosque (area of trees around the river) or hiking in the Sandia Mountains most sunny mornings. I spend my days (and some nights) working in my studio/gallery, Chroma Studios Gallery, opened in March 2008 by my husband and I. We also rent studio space and represent over 50 other artists in the gallery. I currently work mainly in oils, but I have worked with a variety of mediums. I like to paint a fairly large variety of subject matter but mainly paint abstract expressionist works and what I call my Spiral Abstract Series. I try to portray a feeling of love and peace in my work. My paintings are a personal meditation bringing me closer to my own inner peace and awakening consciousness. My goal is to share these meditations with others in hopes of bringing others closer to their own peace and awakening!

Born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1963. I was brought up with a freedom to think and express myself, quite revolutionary for our society in those days.

Survived 3 major wars in Lebanon, one of which was a civil war that lasted 17 years, that left an immense impact on my personality and my search for inner peace and evolution.

As a child, I always sketched, drew and even painted on my bedroom walls. However, I started painting “seriously” about 10 years ago. I can say that I am mainly self taught, though, attended Saturdays painting classes regularly.

I paint when I am happy and joyful. Painting is a joyous journey for me, a way to remember that there is a Beyond when we go within. It is my method of connecting to the Universe. And my suffering is when I loose this connection, this remembrance, this way of BEING (story of my life really..!)

I am mainly inspired by human emotions. For me, each one of us is a Universe by itself.

I am a kindergarten teacher by day and an artist all the remaining of the time. As I like to say: Teaching is my vocation, Painting is my passion.

For many years I worked in mixed media, creating abstract art on large canvases, often using my photographs within the art work. But over the last ten years my focus has been mostly on the photography. I still do more abstract work than realistic, but will work with whatever style gets my thoughts across.

Recently, I illustrated Rob Bryanton’s latest book “O is for Omniverse”, and used a combination of drawing, painting, photography and digital manipulation to portray the ideas that he has put forth.

To me, nature is awe inspiring and I attempt to show the beauty I see, in my photographs.

Mother Nature is constantly creating works of art. When the fog rolls in, everything becomes very mystical and mysterious; when the sun peeks through the parted clouds it accents and emphasizes; when flakes of snow are sprinkled across the angles of boulders, cubist abstracts are created.

And liquid water is the most wonderful of all. Constantly changing shapes and colours, reflecting back the surrounding colours or the colour of the sky above, it laps or burbles or crashes against the shore. Rocks too, intrigue me. The earth takes all manner of matter, and under pressure creates rock, then sets to work on crumbling it to dust once again. It’s part of nature’s recycling program.

Trees also get recycled. While growing they provide home and food to creatures big and small, and with assistance from millions other processes and critters, they rot away to replenish what they have drawn from the soil and air.

I find beauty in all aspects of nature big and small, because I find a beauty in the wisdom of the process itself. Nothing is wasted– everything is re-processed–no matter how long it takes. It is in nature that I feel at one with the universe and find a serenity that radiates into my soul. I hope that viewers of my photos will see that peace as well.

Weathered roots at the riverside. Somehow, these roots still seem to give sustenance to the tree.
