My word is “success”. After a few hours of living with this word (inscribed on my heart and all), I drove into the driveway and as I turned off the ignition I shouted, “No more. I am not anyone’s sacrificial lamb any more. It is my turn to live the success I create for the boss. It’s time for my ways of giving and giving to get some appreciation in return. They can do their own sacrificing, if they feel they need it. I am no more their lamb but a leader on the path of success.”
Stranger than that, the boss immediately stopped blaming me for his mistakes (the ones I inherited with this job, the very ones I’ve been working so hard to turn around) and suddenly began treating me like a human being. It happened so quickly I can hardly believe it. I hadn’t fully realized how much “failure” I was causing by my willingness to shoulder all that shit laid down here before I even arrived. The shit goes in the compost heap, not on me. I didn’t realize how powerful I could be. Now I’m working on living up to the responsibilities of my own power.
