Born in 1948, I grew up as a country girl in South Africa. Did my bit as secretary, wife and mum for many years, and once that was over, I found myself drawn to an easel and canvas. I would only later find out that my cousin was the Head of Arts at a University; so with the “art in my blood” I started out with no knowledge, but lots of enthusiasm.
I am mainly a self taught artist, but tried to meet as many artists as possible from whom I could learn specific techniques that I favoured.
Although I was mostly interested in painting wild animals in the beginning, the creative inner took over and I constantly researched and applied new techniques and subject matter. Twelve years later I am an art teacher with a wide field of interest and experience which comes in very handy due to the diversity of subjects, styles and techniques my students want to acquire.
Apart from my classes, I am currently doing portraits on commission and am also putting together lessons in digital form for a former student overseas who wants to share it with her friends. My aim is that this will eventually become a “digital library of painting lessons” that I can also produce in printed form as we do not have any such material available here.
I do believe I am one of the luckiest people around; having a career that is truly also a passion.

Hi Adele!
Your work is truly awesome. My favorites are Madonne and Calmness.
Could you kindly change the title “Ghandi” to GANDHI? Gandhi played an important role in SA before he was instrumental in winning India her freedom, after which he is known as ‘Father of the Nation’ in India.
Thank you Adele for showcasing such beauty. Good luck to u!
P.S : Could you try painting some South African Tribal danceforms?
Hi Krupa,
Thanks for your suggestions, information and good wishes.
Yes, I can certainly do some tribal danceforms. Since this is a once off display on Evolution, where would you suggest such works be displayed for you to see?
I truly love! Your wildlife! Your paintings are defiantly inspired. Thank you for sharing this with us. Of course the other paintings are just as glorious. I happen to really enjoy the wild life.
very good and inspiring, wished I could paint, love it but only doodle with pencil,
Thank you Ruth, I am glad you enjoyed my work. Wild life will always be close to my heart and I just adore elephants. Think they are the most wonderful beings.
Vero, you can paint. When a baby picks up a crayon, what does s/he do? Scribble on whatever is at hand. I think all of us produced a “painting” well before we could read or write. Such paintings came from within, but the reading and writing had to be taught and learned. Isn’t that true?

The art was exceotionally good especially “calmness” and Gandhi.
