Your pictures reminded me of the many times I took my canoe out in the magical early evening when the power boats had all gone to roost, the air was calm, and there were only a few ripples on the lake. Sometimes I would watch the sun going down over the hill, and the late-to-bed birds were calling their ways to their nests. There was a solitary bay ripple high with a forest of weeds, too shallow for power boats, where I could look over the canoe side and see the snails meandering on the oozy mud, the occasional fish, a turtle lazing on a piece of wood jutting out of the water and once a one-legged heron with one eye on me and the other looking for his supper.

I was really surprised by “Lone boat in Maui, Hawaii, at sunset.” The way the sun is beneath the long line of cloud makes it look a little surreal. I found the picture following “Lone boat in Maui, Hawaii, at sunset,” to be especially beautiful because the focus is on the water’s reflection, very much reminiscent of the Impressionists.

My son looked over my shoulder as I was viewing these beautiful locations with a boat theme. He said he would like to be there. For a stay at home fifteen year old that’s some compliment!

The photographs are so real and rich in details and color! The first photograph is especially stunning and a real pleasure to look at. I sure wish I was there! Of course, the third photograph is also quite impressive! Some of these photographs have a real sense of adventure to them with just one or two boats venturing out towards the natural world and away from civilization. Freedom, indeed, is one of the top words I would choose in describing the feelings stirred up within me when I admire and immerse myself in these photographs!
